Star trek Prodigy premieres today. Paramount Plus.

I though the 1 hour premiere of Prodigy was fantastic. Yeah it's bright colors and choice of characters are Cleary aiming to bring in a younger audience, but it still felt like star trek. The CGI was very impressive. It looks like it's an expensive show to produce. I turned it on for my 6 year nephew, and after an initial whining of it not being peppa pig or sponge bob, he soon was locked to the screen, and was upset when there weren't any more episodes. All in all 8/10

I loved it.

Definitely for kids, but a real spectacle. Couldn't believe how good the animation was.

The animation was amazing. Made me wonder if kid's shows were this quality these days or if they are just pulling out all the stops. From my limited research, they are putting some serious resources into it. The new head of Paramount plus was previously the president of Nickelodeon and was the one who greenlit the show

Apparently Prodigy won't air in the UK until next year, when they attempt to launch Paramount+ over here. They never learn. We don't want to wait months like it's still the 90s. Falling off the back of the internet it is.

They want everything to be on Paramount Plus. They are waiting for all the other country's deals to expire, then bring them on Plus, rather than keep making individual deals with various networks in various countries. It sucks for you guys always being forced to wait, and they gotta know, people aren't going to wait half a year when they can just find it online.

I clicked on this thread thinking that something cool might be in the works, but nope. All I see is some lame-ass animated cartoon series and that series squeezing the has-been favourites for all they're worth. We haven't had anything decent since the series that ended in the 2000s. An entire generation of kids is probably growing up thinking Star Trek is garbage.

On the 18th season 4 of Discovery starts. It will be the first time since 1999, with the final season of DS9 and 1st season of VOY, that 2 new Trek shows will be airing at the same time. Prodigy has also already been given a season 2 order and has received great reviews so far.

Here's a great interview from the producer of the new 10 part History Channel star trek documentary, The center seat. It airs Friday's nights, and the first 2 episodes have been fantastic, with tons of new info and interviews. This is the same guy who has made the great Netflix series "The toys that have made us" and "The movies that have made us"

Paramount has paid off Netflix, so the international rights for Discovery will revert back to Paramount. All the Trek series will be airing worldwide on Paramount +(except Canada) and most the series still on Netflix or Amazon, will be leaving by 2022. Season 4 of Discovery comes out on Thursday.
Fuck's sake. That's another wait until next year. Was looking forward to that airing on Netflix on Friday. Piracy it is then.

Yeah, I don't blame you. I understand they need to get everything under one brand, but it's pretty shitty for the international fans to find out the day before a new season starts, that they don't have a way to watch for another 2 months.

I did hear some good news, that it sounds like after the TOS films are released in 4k, they will be on Paramount+. The company has been impressed with the sped and cost to the upconversions, so they will very likely this year start bringing DS9 and VOY to full HD upconversion restoration. That's from the head star trek licensing.

I doubt I'd be paying for yet another streaming service as it is. I have Disney+, Amazon and Now TV, with my sister having Netflix. Paramount on top of that is taking the piss. Oh for the days when it was just Netflix and Amazon.

Not the kids watching Prodigy, it's really good.

I will say Paramount + has gotten much more content and they will be adding a ton more in 2022. The new Yellowstone series is a plus exclusive coming in a few weeks. Pretty much always going to be a new Trek show playing on it aswell. Picard season 2 starts as soon as DSC season 4 is done, and the new Pike series premieres right after that. I'm excited to see the Trek films in 4K, as I know a few people who have worked on them, and they say they turned out stunning.

STAR TREK: First Contact, came out 25 years ago today. Man I feel old...

Unless they do another announcement to piss people off (which is admittedly likely), Picard is still airing on Amazon Prime over here. Same with Lower Decks. I already have Prime, Disney+ and Now TV, and my sister has Netflix. Another one is going into piss-taking territory.
