The Photography thread!

Landscape wise this is actually the biggest downtime of the year for me, unless you get a summer thunderstorm really not that much to shoot in the UK and often quite hazy weather.

I see Nikon have finally brought out a retro mirrorless than looks like an old FE/FM camera, fed up of Fuji mining that market dispite originally having little history with those kinds of 35mm SLRs.

ASPC rather than FF but does look supprising well done, little LCD for the aperture as well which I was sure they'd miss but is needed without it being on the lenses.

I'm guessing not built like my F2 though which could stop a viet con sniper bullet.

I'm so tempted to buy the Zfc... the FE was my first camera (still have it).

However, I already have the df... which is only a few hundred dollars more on the used market than a new zfc. Same retro looks, but full frame, and uses f-mount lenses.

The DF is a great buy, as they didn't make many of them and it will likely not go down in value much (it may go way up).

Your still talking about £1500ish for an excellent condition one.

It will be interesting to see what happens with DSLR's in the future, the market does slowly seem to be moving away from them with Canon and Nikon putting out double gripped pro mirrorless bodies. Just a guess but I suspect Nikon may hang on for a bit longer than Canon catering to the market who wants to stick with them. Pentax as well I suspect will probably stick with DSLRs as they don't really have the backing to go mirrorless, they do already seem to be trying to set themselves up as a big Leica like marketing the limited lenses.

Nikon officially announced there will be no more flagship DSLR's and they now have a flagship mirrorless in Z9. I doubt they will stick with DSLR's much longer.

Yeah I think the Z9 makes that fairly clear and honestly I wouldnt expect them to carry on with those kinds of bodies when they've gone mirrorless as they are really professional workhorses plus going without the mirror and even without a shutter is well suited to pushing FPS faster.

I think if they carried on with DSLRs it would be more along the lines of say updating the D850 were you could keep the body/prism/shutter/AF sensor the same and just update the sensor and stuff associated with that, basically stick the same tech in it your working on for mirrorless without having to invest more.

What camera are you using? These shots look so clean and detailed. I love them!
Hey, thanks a lot. I made those with Nikon D850, For the first 2 I used Samyang 85mm f/1.4 AS IF UMC AE, and Sigma 50mm 1.8 HSM Art for the last. Samyang lens is a bit tricky since it's a manual focus one but is possibly best bang for your buck 85mm on the market.

Thanks man. Your pics are great too... really sharp.
Thanks. They also seem to look even sharper after compression, to the point I would like them to be a tad smoother.
Can you remind me which drone do you use? I get the urge to get something compact and with a good enough camera for travel photos.

Which camera do you use? I really like some of your portraits, they carry a lot of emotions, but I feel your shots would benefit greatly from better use of focus.

So, I bought a Mavic Air like 3 years ago and it's great. But, about a month ago I bought a Mini Fly More combo (with extra batteries, charging hub, case, some other stuff) for $230. I got it to try out and because it's so light, you don't need to register it here in the States.

The Mavic is no doubt better, but the Mini is pretty sweet actually. It flies great. That pic is from the Mini. It only does 2.7 k video and doesn't take RAW photos, but the JPG are very good and you can tweak them quite a bit. For $230, it's amazing actually.

Yep, Mavic is significantly more expensive. Thanks for the info!

I’ll keep that in mind. I’m always looking to improve. That’s definitely something I could work on. Thanks!

If your camera has an option of focusing on a set point in the frame, you may want to experiment with that.
