The Photography thread!

I just found my external hard drive with most of my backup raw photos and LR catalogs. I'm not longer into cityscape/landscape photography, but I did some quick adjustments in LR/PS on these 3 of the Tower Bridge in Sacramento that haven't been processed yet. I use to take photos of this bridge often when I use to live in Sacramento and we didn't have kids yet. Always during sunset though. Always wanted to get in a epic sunrise shot from this side of the bridge, but never did it.

I like the colors!

I am incredibly lazy as of late,

Landscape wise this is actually the biggest downtime of the year for me, unless you get a summer thunderstorm really not that much to shoot in the UK and often quite hazy weather.

I see Nikon have finally brought out a retro mirrorless than looks like an old FE/FM camera, fed up of Fuji mining that market dispite originally having little history with those kinds of 35mm SLRs.

Nikon_Zfc_main.jpeg

ASPC rather than FF but does look supprising well done, little LCD for the aperture as well which I was sure they'd miss but is needed without it being on the lenses.

I'm guessing not built like my F2 though which could stop a viet con sniper bullet.

More options the better, although the only Fuji I want right now is a X100V. I have a X70, which I like due to it's size and my preferred 28mm FOV for street photography, but the dual VF and leaf shutter would be sweet to have and with the WCL and TCL. On the otherhand at that price point I might as well get a interchangable mirrorless.

Looks like a fancy looking Z50. I dunno about build quality since they are closing their assembly plant in Japan and all new cameras will be Thailand- made, but it still should have magnesium chassis.

I have been tempted a little my the X100V as more of a casual/street camera, seems like the lens is now actually pretty sharp at F/2. Honestly my main body for landscape size isnt much of an issue and I preffer the bigger grip/controls of the D850 plus the optical finder to be able to see detail even when high contrast shooting.

When I'm buying a new main body in a couple of years or so I'll probably take another look at mirrorless, more of my F-mount lenses will I suspect be getting seriously worn by then so might have to be buying new ones regardless of mount.

This camera does seem a slightly tempting as a way to dip my toe in the water without heavily investing yet.

Pretty much but not at much of a prenium with a better interface, no top plate LCD on the Z50.

Really its only been the double gripped pro DSLR's made in Japan for a number of years by Nikon, my D850 was made in Thailand. I'd probably be more concerned were lenses had been made personally, theres more potential for same variation there.

Some architecture of St Pete at night. Had no tripod, sorry. And I need to practice architecture shooting more, I am not satisfied with what I can make.

I posted these mainly to share what we saw, and they are unedited--just upped from my phone (via imgur) as is, but taking that into account, I welcome any comments or suggestions, particularly if you think they're actually any good (LOL).
Lol that first picture. I’m from Nova Scotia, currently in BC. I have a similar photo from that location on film.

Haven't taken anything impressive in awhile, but here's some playin' around/learning shots.

Waiting to get my photo taken with an 8x10 film camera.
This was from a camera club meet around 12-15 years ago, I was shooting b&w film with an Olympus Pen FT.

So in September I attended a workshop with a well known Russian portrait photographer Aleksei Kazantsev (@kazantsevalexey on Instagram) and made some nice shots. Only got to edit them now.
There were 2 different models, here are shots of the first, a tad later I will upload the second one.

Rather frivolous purchase of an old Pentax K5 and 40mm limited lens. Was hunting around for something smaller/cheaper than my Nikon gear for a few months now to use more causally for some street style shooting but I spose the problem is I don't want to really slum it in terms of not having a decent viewfinder, control and good build. With mirrorless I found you were having to go too far back to get into my price range(£300 for camera and lens) to the degree the viewfinder/AF would be pretty poor but the Pentax did have the advantage SLR tech was further advanced a decade ago and the very small lens balances the larger(relative th mirrorless anyway, a lot smaller than my D800/D850) body.
