Funny if you asked this question right before this fight people would be talking up Gane. Bisping was at the tail end of his career and every MW was chomping at the bit to even get a chance because they knew they would be champ. Gane is in his physical prime and clearly #1 ahead of everyone else.

Gane is excellent in his area of expertise but Jones had an extremely clear path to victory for which Gane had no real means of resistance. He can't grapple for shit.

People like to shit on Bisping but it's because they don't like him, it isn't because he wasnt good. He was as tough and well rounded as they come, gave GSP a tough fight and every round before the finish was close. Easily a more impressive win than Gane.

Bisping was a far tougher style matchup if you actually know MMA. He had some of the best TDD in the division. Prime Shale could barely get him down and most thought he lost that. Insane cardio, high workrate and durability too. When Georges got on top of him Bisping was slicing him with elbows too and Georges couldnt get anything going. Bisping has always been incredibly hard to wrestle and control.

Gane had never fought a good grappler in his life and was ragdolled by a Francis with 1 leg. Hes one of the worst grapplers in MMA.

Bisping was a paper champ who almost lost to out of prime Anderson right before becoming champ. He wasn't even top 2 at the time, while Gane was undisputably top 2 after winning the stand up against the scariest knock out artist in the history of HW, Francis Ngannou.

Also, GSP didn't move up until he found someone he could beat. He didn't want to face Anderson at all. Shows you how little GSP thought of Bisping.

He beat the best fighter who was Rockhold at the time then beat Andy. Bisping at least wasn’t a fish out the water in grappling like Gane is.
