Any Matrix nerdz around here? I've been surprised these discussions haven't started growing, but I hope we can do so with a few laughs as we discuss whether or not we're in the matrix right now in what we consider to be real life. We're just talking about a movie here right? or are we?
The Internet Wide controversy regarding "The Matrix All the Way Down" theory... presented by everyone'z favorite Matrix commentator
@Myrddin Wild
They never died is the reason they come back. They never died is because they never left the matrix. That's the "matrix all the way down" theory... you're never out. I mean there's got to be a way out or they're just spinning their wheels & so they would have us believe with this series that they are actually in the real world now... but we'll still wonder.
There's an extremely critical part during the conclusion of reloaded (act 2) that any casual could easily overlook. If you think about this movie even a little bit deeper though, you need a workable solution to the fact that
Neo should NOT be able to manipulate the squiddies in the real world.
He should not be able to "feel" them as he says & know that they were shooting bombs at that moment when he's not plugged in... heat vision & all that shit. In order to disprove the enormous evidence that Zion is still in the matrix

there's theories out there that Neo had wifi built into his matrix circuitry... (WiFu

) since the squiddies communicate through a wireless signal with each other & to some kind of common central command, (not to be confused with their analog noise sensors) but that's quite a stretch and not even that "matrixy" of a solution tbh. I mean, it isn't even that fooking interesting if you're simply saying that Neo had built in wifi.
The Oracle saying ithat Neo's carrier signal has a direct connection to the prime program (source) is where people get this wifu thing even though the movie didn't say the first thing about wifi. That's obviously true that Neo has a unique connection to the source... but once Neo unplugged.... we're back to him needing wifi. Morphius had Neo'z fooking heart on the monitor at one point in a live feed where you could see it beating... trust me he was examined.

So there was NO UNIQUE EQUIPMENT FOUND ON NEO. If their was, Why not reverse engineer Neo's unique wifi signal and then equip wifi into everyone at Zion if that's all that allows Neo to plug in any time he wants.
At the start of act 3 (Revolutions) Neo is not jacked in... but he's in the matrix & the doctor verifies it by his brain signals. So we need to know how he connected but the movie never says. The oracle just says he's got a connection to the source... but how? (WiFi?) Also, how did Smith stay connected after his ear piece is removed? Since Neo & Smith are now intimately a part of each other then the same solution should work for both of them. So if Neo has Wifu... then we have to conclude that Smith does too. But all the other agents need the ear piece thingy to be logged in... so how did smith do it?
IMO... The most mind bending thing about the Matrix movie is that it is based on the possibility that you and me are in the Matrix right now. Me & you do not have super powers... & so when Neo is in what we think is the real world... he can not have super powers. It undercuts the whole reality that this movie is fundamentally based on that he's a normal guy, but he's got powers when he's jacked in.
If Neo in the real world, is all of a sudden a fooking mind reader or a god damned sorcerer or something then that fooks everything up for me. No... he's a normal guy like me or you in the real world... but he's got special abilities when he plugz in. That is the premise that the Matrix is under imo and to mess with that would be detrimental. It is OH SO SWEET to watch a movie that makes me feel like I might be living in a simulation. Please don't fook that up for me.

Despite a dozen or so very opinionated members of the "matrix wiki community" writing off the idea that zion is a matrix within the matrix because to them it seems "too obvious..." that is the most "matrixy" explanation, which btw is backed up by a lot of dialog & easter eggz throughout the movie. Just to name a couple off the top of my head... "layers upon layers of control" speak to the "Matrix all the way down" theory perfectly. The required reading for the entire cast, crew, & myself... which was the "simulacra & simulation" book explains that modern society has mocked up real living to the point where it's as if a life size map is laying on top of the earth, & you can't tell the difference between the map & the real authentic soil beneith it. This screams out from the mountain tops that Zion is just a construct of the Matrix. (It would be a slap in the face of the architect program if he hasn't figured out that Zion could be a part of the program after the 6th try at a physical Zion now yeah?

)
On top of all that... I haven't heard other counter ideas hold any weight so if you don't like the "Matrix all the way down" theories then don't pretend like everyone else is a fooking idiot unless you got a better solution. Pretty Please with sugar on top ~ Kenny Florian. Just saying that we can be civil in this thread & have some fun with our differences if we keep it light.
I DON'T WANT NEO TO HAVE REAL WORLD SUPER POWERS. That's the beginning & the end of that discussion imo, but obviously if we need to open that up, then lets do it. Otherwise we're left with the simplest conclusion that
Zion is a matrix within the matrix & all the people thinking they're being released from the matrix... never where. They were just shifted to a different part of the program designed to separate the anomalies who don't except the Matrix. How the hell would this simple reality escape both the prime source & the architect as a possibility that they can manipulate? I mean you know they at least had to try it yeah?
So Neo & Trin are still alive because they were never dead. The hard & fast rool that you die in real life when you die in the Matrix can simply be overwritten because there is no "real life" other than the fact that you're in a pod being used as a battery. It's all still just a part of the matrix computer program.... and Neo & Trin will both be safely alive in their pods where they've been the whole time. (opening scene of the Matrix 4 if there be any justice in the world)
So the 2nd question I quoted is answered that the state of the post-apocalyptic world is likely exactly the same... however we've never seen it.
We've only seen the "Zion program" running & so we only saw what the "architect/prime program" wanted us to see. As far as we know... nobody has ever made it out of the matrix. The function of the ONE is to return to the prime program so that it can learn what sort of anomalies happened within the ONE (the alpha representation of all those inside the matrix) and then with that updated data can get a feel for how the epitomy of the human race has evolved & then cut that off for all the lesser beings who aren't at his level. The program can then make subtle adjustments that keep all the slaves in the game during the next re-set.
The architect does his best to foresee the evolution of the human race but it cannot, & so it created the Oracle to be his sister with a free spirit that he doesn't understand... to help understand humans & to guide the ONE back to the source so that a new understanding of how humans are evolving has been reached during each evolution & so mission accomplished in the original series. Neo went to the source to plug in just like a good bitch should do. It might look messy this time... but it worked.
The new re-boot of the Matrix could be different. Or maybe it's exactly the same, but it most certainly could be either because this thing has happened 6 other timez. It's just a program, so they can make it whatever they want... especially if they just erased everyone's memory. It makes sense...
there's no need to destroy all of your batteries just because you need to re-boot the computer yeah? So the Architect was obviously full of shit and bluffing if you think he's going to kill off millions of people in the pods that result in the extinction of the human race. They got a good thing going with us & all the infrastructure in place to think about trashing it all & starting over. Fook no... this is a matrix designed specifically to be rebooted, and they didn't put a wild card like "The ONE" in charge of when they're going to tear the whole system down. Fook no... especially when it would be completely useless to kill all your batteries when you have a live feed into their brain & can just make them forget the previous iteration.
The Smith Anomaly is the different thing if he comes back though. Not necessarily Neo's part of it all except that Smith is inside him and maybe that's how Smith survived? or maybe that's how Neo survived... & he made a copy of trin in the Smith program.
I would think any of that's interesting enough to base a sequel on without needing Neo to have built in WiFu or some stupid shit like that.
Wow, would I shed a tear when Neo gives his lyfe because he can't let Smith free. I mean... again... of coarse... lol... but this time it's different because realizez there's no way that he can survive without being a carrier for the Smith virsus.

(he just grew a tail when he tried a vaccine!

)
That's probably enough Matrix geeking for the day.
