Yea I don't understand this. All this made me want to do was rewatch the first Matrix. I don't want to watch a retread of the first one with some want to be Lawrence Fishbourne.

Maybe it is just the editing but I don't know not impressed so far.

I saw them filming this back when I was living in San Francisco in 2020. I’m surprised that it actually was filmed this quickly, considering Covid and everything

Someone could write a book about the devolving artistry in marketing for big, Hollywood movies. Awful trailers, awful posters.....

Not to mention a film from 1999 (even with retrograde green tint) looks so much more vivid than a film being released 20 years later.

That’s the nature of art. Whatever the medium is, there are people with original ideas who come and go. Then everything after them is simply formulaic and based on the concepts that they came up with. Once that has been wrung dry, its on to the next medium. The vast majority of movies today are just remakes of a different work of art. And then to make it even worse, the film industry waters down a lot of the ideas that they feel won’t make the money or will cost them money.


Luckily the book industry isn’t subject to the same level of gatekeeping

I'll definitely watch it. I don't think it'll be anything close to earlier quality based on the cast. Too bad they couldn't bring everyone back.

The CGI in the first Matrix has gotten pretty dated so it looks like they want to tell a similar story but with modern tech.

Back when first Matrix came out CGI was really still in it's infancy... the "bullet time" effect they had to use 35mm still photo cameras lined up in a row... something that would be super easy to do in a computer nowadays.

Just based on the Wachowski's track record ever since the original, I already know that this will be a complete pile of shit.

That aside, the trailer just looks desperate. Pretty sure I already saw the movie where Thomas Anderson discovers that he's Neo. I saw most of those scenes in the original too.

Visually I think that looked really impressive. VFX has definitely come a long way since the first two sequels. Buuuutttttttttttttttt...I have zero confidence that this will be a coherent film. None.
