I wouldn't mind it... but
I'd rather take it from where the series left off & move forward.
For one...
Neo isn't dead imo. The oracle said she expected we'd see him again. & also, during the scene where Agent Smith explodez & it goes to where we all think Neo is dead... the machine face speaks to him & sayz "It is done." Why would the machine speak to someone who is dead?
It just had him hooked up & so it would know Neo'z vitalz... & as a machine it would know the futility of talking to a dead person & not bother.
All that said...
The un-answered question az to why Neo waz able to control the squidz while "supposedly" out of the matrix suggests that Zion waz just a side program... & no one actually escaped the pod city.
it openz up yet a deeper level of control. Like how interesting iz it that they went through all that thinking they were free & yet the whole time they were still prisonerz of the system. That works hand in hand as a parallel to society as well. Like someone unhappy in a dead end job thinks they're free... but in reality, they're still plugged into the system of control similar to someone in actual prizon.
Yes, they have "more" control over their life... but if they're unhappily just going through the motionz... they're basically still in the prison. They're forced to do thingz they don't want to do. They are imprisoned when they think they are free... just as Morphius, Neo, & crew all think they are out of the Matrix... but they are actually still laying in their podz.
So I think that showing that deeper level of control in the continuation of the movie really emphasizez the main symbolic theme that this movie waz all about to begin with. In the 1st Matrix, we find out we are all just prisoners. So if they go this route with the continuation... we would find out that even those who thought they escaped were only in a more elaborate prison... takes that original lesson to the HNL imo.
Or how about if the original trilogy is a simulation that Morphius & company put on potential prospects to prepare them for a real escape... & in doing so, they can give them all this power & see if they abuse it. Those who abuse the power are not disconnected.
So like Morphius hacks into the Machine'z Matrix program & runs this simulation of the entire Trilogy... & then after they pass that test... then they are actually pulled from the pod city into the real world. Haha.... that would be cool. In this scenario, everyone who iz in the "real world" got to be "the one" az their trial.
Anywayz... it's fun to speculate about... but remember...
Neo should not of been able to control those squidz while out of the matrix. That's real. We need answerz!
