Damn, white actresses where kinda thicc back then

There was a few really hot chicks on OG Star Trek.

The white girls were thicker for sure, but it was a result (at least what it appeared to me), of them never working out a day in their lives and eating whatever they wanted. Not going to say out of shape .. LOL... but, you know, men too, folks were a little more care free in the 50s, 60s, 70s.

And that was ok, people loved big girls that tended to have a little more body fat.

It's just in the last few decades we've become fanatical about it. Times change I guess.

I voted for Brando because holy shit he was perfect but they all did a fantastic job. Well, except Coppola's daughter. And let's be honest, Andy Garcia was pretty shitty too.

How did you feel about Godfather? I remember your post saying that first 30 mins in was boring but don't remember seeing an update after that
I thought it was amazing! After I really settled into it and got invested in the characters it was amazing. I'm watching part 2 right now.

Great thread.

Very tough questions because there are so many terrific performances there. The cast is uniformly excellent.

Brando is iconic. Pacino is brilliant. Caan steals every scene he is in. Duvall is his consistently awesome self. Cazale kills a relatively small role and makes Fredo seem like a fully fleshed out character. Keaton and Shire are both terrific. The list goes on and on to great supporting performers like Castellano, Abe Vigoda, Sterling Hayden, Alex Rocco, John Marley.

If I had to choose, it would probably be Pacino because he has the most to do and, if you didn't have him selling Michael's transition from affable, idealistic dude to irredeemably immersed in the business he was not supposed to become a part of, you don't have the essence of the film. That said, I think Brando is right up there with him and I personally have always loved Caan's performance as Sonny.

Cazale's story just makes me sad. Here's a dude who was in, what, five movies? And every one of them was a best picture contender and, in three cases, a best picture winner- The Godfather, Godfather Part II, Dog Day Afternoon, The Conversation, The Deer Hunter. Some absolute classics right there. The poor guy gets cancer at a young age and dies. Just horrible shit. I bet he would have accomplished so much in his career had he lived into the 80s/90s and beyond. Pretty sure he was engaged or in a long-term relationship with Meryl Streep at the time of his death.
Thanks for the information. I was ignorant on that and will now research and watch.

This is Godfather (1) so it must be Brando.

Duvall was excelent in all 3 and doesnt get enough credit IMO.

Figured I would quote my recent post in stead of making a new thread.

So I'm halfway through GF part 2 right now and............I dont know. It just isn't hitting like the first one. All the reviews I read said it was equal if not BETTER than the first and that it would be an insult to call it a "sequel" but its just not capturing me. Im hoping the last hour and a half really brings it tho

I love Sonny, how badarse is this:

Not sure bro, havent checked it out yet

Marlon Brando.

What did it for me was the scene when Tom tells him Sonny was killed. Watch Vito's reaction. Great mfing acting.

Brando easily. I love Michael's arc, but Brando gives the best performance.
