Love both movies and the novels even more but I think Puzo's material was just better than Stephen King's

Too many unforgettable performances by Brando, Caan et al

Shawshank was a good movie but in terms of performances nothing exceptional

i don't have a comprehensive list in front of me, but Alien (not the directors cut) would be a popular 9 out of 10 film.

Not that close. Shawshank was derivative from escape from alcatraz.. Bordering on plagiarism in some ways of you go back and watch. It's still good, but Godfather invented a genre, and holds up to all those that followed.

It is one of those questions that can change on a daily basis. It is kinda(At least for me), asking me if I prefer Goodfellas or Casino. One day I will tell you Goodfellas, perhaps a few months later I will say Casino.

I think today I will give it a slight edge to The GF.
