I honestly think that if Thunderbolts had come out pre-Endgame, it would have made serious bank. Hell, Captain Marvel made a Billion off Endgame hype, and it was mediocre, IMHO.

Absolutely. I think Thunderbolts would have grossed around $600 to $800+ million. This had the same Guardians of the Galaxy magic. Same with Fantastic Four: First Steps if released pre-2020. Heck, even the general public was still generous in 2022, giving all three MCU films a decent amount of money at the box office (which would be considered a big hit in today's CBM landscape).

I’m at the point that I think the whole Avengers cycle needs to be put on the back burner, and the MCU needs to go full steam into X-Men development.

I liked the FF movie, but they are only really needed to pull off the Secret Wars story line. If anything, I’m more interested in seeing how Gunn pulls off a JLA movie more than anything Avengers related, and it hurts my soul to admit it.

I wanted to like this movie so badly and it turned into hot garbage at the end. Galactus was the shittiest MCU villain by a mile and I'm shocked they put a version of him that was this awful on screen because they're usually great about being faithful to the characters.

It started great, began losing me halfway through with that Archimedes nonsense, and then had me thinking about groceries by the time Galactus was falling into their idiotic trap.

I finally got to see it. There was just myself and one other person in the theatre, which suited me just fine. I like movies. I don't particularly like other people.

Well, it took decades and five movies(if you include the one that was never even released)but Marvel's First Family has finally been done right.

I had doubts about the casting when the first trailer dropped. I'm happy to eat crow now. The chemistry between the leads is very strong, and each one gets their moment in the sun. Any fears that this would turn out to be The Sue Show, guest starring Johnny, Ben and Reed were unfounded. Yeah, Sue lands the heaviest shots on Galactus - more on him later - but it's literally a team effort. The family dynamic is portrayed flawlessly. They joke around, argue and fall out but always have each other's backs. Sue giving birth in space was actually quite moving.

The retro look works perfectly for the movie, and is a nice contrast to the GrimDark feel of Marvel's other release this year, Thunderbolts. Herbie is a delight, and no doubt will shift Baby Yoda-levels of merchandise. Inscribing the Surfer's transmissions onto a gold record - a possible reference to the real life Voyager? - and Herbie's eyes being tape decks that can be swapped out for specific missions are particularly nice touches.

And by the Holy Name of Jack Kirby(PBUH)the Devourer of Worlds is at last shown in all his terrifying majesty. Kirby's inspiration for Galactus included an Old Testament-style Wrath of God, and Galactus here is portrayed as a merciless, nigh-unstoppable force of nature. From the moment he arrives on earth, he is pure destruction, wrecking everything in his path, with no more thought or effort than a large man stepping on an anthill(no offence, Doctor Pym).

Silver Surfer was never a favourite character of mine, so the gender-swap didn't bother me that much, and Julia Garner is fine in the role.

"Doom" is barely on screen for 30 seconds. We don't see his face, natch, and he doesn't speak. Along with the empty Latvarian seat at the UN, it's still nice to see the first official appearance of Doctor Doom in an MCU film.

9/10. 'Nuff Said. :)

Yea Galactus being taken care of so easily was one thing I didn't like. I honestly thought they were going to lose and use the teleportation to accidentally teleport themselves into the MCU.

Galactus was Nerfed compared to his comic book counterpart, but show me an MCU character who isn't?

Me, too. I read that online before the film and it sounded great. Fan speculation wrote a better ending than Marvel did.

True story. That's why it wasn't such a huge deal to me to the point I didn't like the movie but it was just one of the negative things to me about the movie. Overall I thought it was great and I hope they keep this formula going. Less jokes and a more serious tone.

I enjoyed thunderbolts but man the non-stop jokes is getting old.

That's one of the reasons I enjoyed Thunderbolts; there were some jokes - Yelina and Ghost taking the piss out off Walker's, "gun barrel" - but they didn't try to make every character Tony Stark.

It doesn't mean I'm not going to enjoy the movies for what they are.
It does for me. I checked out of the DCEU because of how stupid they were and I think I just checked out of Marvel. Which is too bad, because Thunderbolts was great.

Man to me Thunderbolts had to many jokes. It was like non-stop with the "bob" thing. Plus all the other jokes. I just want an overall more serious tone to these movies like Winter Soldier type stuff. It doesn't mean they will automatically be good but it's what I would prefer.

Galactus felt the wrath of a mom protecting her child. In the comics, Sue held up against Celestials. I don't think Big G was nerfed as everybody is saying, but I don't think they really showcased his power.

Same. But I take solace that they're in the rebuilding phase and are back to Phase One box office numbers ($300M to $400M+ for non-Iron Man films). If they continue to make quality films, they'll graduate to Phase Two box office numbers ($600M to $800M+ for non-marquee characters or titles).

Only if ticket prices start going down. They are really gouging the fandom. The cost of comic books, toys, t shirts and tickets to comic con or fan expo are all outrageous now.

I’m hoping fans will eventually boycott, or just get sick of it and it all collapses. The greedy sons of bitches who make these decisions have to pay somehow.

I have been a comic collector and fan of these movies for years but I find myself rooting for them to fail these days. If I'm feeling that way I can’t be the only one.

Sue has been the most powerful member of the FF for years now in the comics. Even freaking Wolverine doesn't want to fight her.

He was definitely nerfed. In his original appearance, he was so far out of their league another cosmic entity had to help them steal one of Galactus' own weapons to turn against him. Here, he's a big dummy they knocked down.

Galactus' power ranges in the comics, usually based on how long he's gone without feeding.
This is sometimes portrayed by a reduction in his size. He's been down to about 20' tall before and KO"d by the Thing in that state.
He could have been nerfed, but he could have also been weakened by hunger.

Ghost Rider also took down Galactus with his Penance Stare, forcing him to relive the pain and terror of all the countless people who's planets he devoured.

Hilariously, when Ghost Rider tried to do the same to the Punisher, Frank completely no-sells it. Because Castle feels absolutely no guilt about the scum he kills. 😈
