I don't know why people think there's no fraud and corruption in the federal government. I know firsthand, but local government.

My nephew works for the city. He does irrigation for parks and he uses city money to buy pavers, irrgation systems for his side jobs. and he works side jobs while on the city clock

Bro, we all know there is fraud in government at all levels.

I investigate it for a living.

However, it's literally impossible to find fraud like Elon is claiming in 4 weeks. Fraud is almost impossible to discover in the first place. You pretty much need a whistle blower telling you exactly what to look for, who to look at, and where to look. The odds of an investigator actually uncovering fraud is slim to none. BUT, you're going to believe they found all this fraud in 4 fucking weeks? LOL

DOGE has roughly 100 employees according to Elon. Roughly half financial people and half IT people according to him.

My state agency has over 200 auditors that investigate fraud on all levels of government year round to put that in perspective.

But Elon magically discovered all this fraud in 4 weeks with 100 employees. Okie dokie

I'm not saying you guys are wrong, but we will see in 4 years. Let it play out. If it's as bad as you say it is, then it'll be good news for your party as the Republicans will never win again if DOGE is going to be as disastrous as you make it out to be.

As for me, and the recent CNN polling in which over 50% of Americans approve of DOGE, we are optimistic and overall, it will be a positive impact for our country.

I am 60% confident that this will put us in the right direction.

Yes, this might prove very unpopular and we win the next election, but far too much damage will have been done that will be difficult to reverse.

1. Close the tax loopholes that the ultra rich use to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.
2. Don’t do the Trump tax cuts, which are projected add 5 trillion to the debt over the next several years.
3. Cut out a bunch of the cushy government contracts full of tax freaks and subsidies that Boeing, Raytheon, Tesla, and similar companies get.

Those 3 steps do wayyyyy more to address the issues DOGE is supposed to be solving, plus leave SS, Medicare and Medicaid intact. But DOGE will never do those things, and we all know why.

Why would eliminating the tax on tips be huge? It would be disastrous, abused by the wealthy, and there are far better tax policies to help out low income workers.

Fun fact, the total spending on the entire federal work force's annual salary is less than 5% of the budget and amounts to less than 1% of our annual GDP.

So we could fire every single federal worker and the entire congress and we would barely put a dent in the deficit.

Firing the probationary workers en masse, the youngest and lowest paid staff, isn't going to amount to much.

It's part of the long term republican plan to sabotage government services to justify lowering taxes by whining about how the understaffed, overworked federal employees are the problem, and not them routinely undermining the agencies and refusing to upgrade their systems, software and practices to be more efficient.

Yup, there are some savings you can make without crippling the government, but most of the issue is on the revenue side. Tax revenue has to go up to levels found in other developed countries.

How about an analysis of what could be reasonably cut from each department without harming vital services?
Bill Clinton is the only modern President to succeed at this, and he did it legally and without destroying needed services. He laid the blueprint if Trump cared to follow it.

(Spoiler alert: Trump doesn’t care to follow it, because all he cares about is funding his tax cuts and crashing shit that he can turn around and buy up himself.)

Any person that's at least averagely gifted would see it as a good thing that the checks and balances are in place and are put to use. You don't fight corruption with more corruption so this, just as everything else the government does, must be done the right way.

Trying to get rid of wasteful spending, fraud, etc, is a good thing. If this is being done correctly then that's great. If it's not then they've been incompetent or dishonest and should suffer the consequences.

Fox News is painting this as a way to hinder the work of DOGE and even as a way to harm members of DOGE. Considering something like this review is common and legal and if the audits are in DOGE's favor it allows them to basically say suck it liberals, I get the impression they are not really confident in the work DOGE is doing. Everyone should be in favor of something like this.
