So then it’s pretty much worthless.
Only to an incredibly stupid person that doesn't understand how the government works.
You dont make a bunch of laws before doing the research and investment in finding out how to solve the problems.
You have hearings, you meet with experts, and scientists, see what is possible and when, and then you act.

Or you can continue to be a low IQ Trump supporter and whine about shit you dont bother to try and comprehend

@SmilinDesperado damn bro why are you so riled up? I'd think you were a relative or ex-boyfriend of AOC or something.
{<huh}
Because I'm having a discussion on a discussion board I'm riled up?
Dude, I'm not "triggered". I'm not angry. I'm not riled up.

Why do you guys come on a message board if you're not going to actually discuss?
This white knight stuff is old and lazy. If this were a Bernie Sanders thread I'd be in here making the same comments.

Not really invested in this convo tbh, but I find it weird that she graduated cum laude from Boston University with a degree in Int'l Relations and Economics but only worked as a waitress and bartender before running for congress.

That's what comics and actors do traditionally. Pretty sure Kamala never worked as a waitress taking orders.
But on the other hand, she no doubt had plenty of "spills" to clean up in Willie Brown's office.
And she always got a tip.

Oof.

Probably because cum laude isn't good enough to land a job with a top flight politician. And at the mid to lower levels, it's far more about who you know that what you know. Basically, she got an education but not something she could easily get a job in...but then again she's in Congress now so it wasn't as worthless as it initially seems.

And I'm disappointed you didn't work a "cum" laude joke in on Harris, the set up is right in front of us.

..like it was right ifo her for years. too easy.

but I'd love to party with this chick.

Yea, it's a discussion board. That is why we are here. But your language, random uses of caps, calling everyone lame memes, and overall tone seem a bit unnecessary in your posts towards numerous members in the thread. If there was ever "shouting through texts" you're doing it.

I'm not jumping in the middle of your conversations. Just thought I'd point it out to you in case you were unaware since I've never seen you appear so agitated before.
Lol are u for reals?
I'm not agitated. But obviously a discussion about butt plugs in the Mayberry, or who has the best hairline in the main forum are going to have different tones than a discussion about global warming/the future of the planet in a political discussion thread.

It's funny that you call out my behaviour in this thread, and not what I'm responding to as the issue. Lol I'M the one throwing out lame memes? What? Where? Who are the people talking about white knights and she Guevara here? It ain't me.
I have been more than willing to have a civil discussion with anyone that wants it. And I haven't disrespected anyone that didn't do it to me first. Practically all the people in here I've been responding to (including yourself) have either called me some form of stupid, naive, or that I'm "white knighting"..because it's somehow hard to believe that a person could care about the environment of a planet that they live on.

There's also nothing "random" about my usage of caps , bolded or italic fonts. I put particular things in caps to show their importance to my point since most of the people in here can't be bothered to read anything longer than a tweet, and I have to keep responding to the same FOX news talking points with each person.

I appreciate the attempt at civility, but you've misread my tone completely. Lol you're acting like I'm challenging people to fist fights, or going on personal attack rampages. If you read my posts, then you would have seen that the vast majority of them are talking about AOC and her policies. You're being bias, dude.
Disagree with my politics, that's fine. But you're trying to make it look like I'm unhinged or some shit because I'm responding to people that I disagree with. I'm on a train, responding casually in here as replies come up.

Ok, if I misread you my bad. When hopping back in the thread it appeared that way.

I'll ask you on topic then. Why do you defend the GND? The actual GDN seemed, let us say, highly impractical. Vote-wise it was completely shutdown. Some of the proposals were sci-fi fiction level stuff or just very unrealistic.

Yes as of this moment no one on either side has a true viable solution, but a terrible solution that does nothing but waste taxpayer money and increase our problems is worse than no solution at all. The fact that this GND is pretty much the only thing worth discussing that she has placed down, and it's a huge flop, I think is telling and falls in line with everything else about her.
That's fair. I get it.
If someone just popped in here now, they're going to see like 10 posts of mine arguing with everyone. But I'm not talking shit, I'm responding to criticisms of AOC and GND. I'm legit just sitting on a train right now reading through Sherdog threads.

For your question, I defend the GND because it isnt a law, mandate, or ironclad plan. No offense, but people dont seem to understand what the GND is, and what the purpose of it is.
It is not green laws. It is intentionally made to be nonbinding. The point of the GND is to open discussions about climate change, and THEN do something about it. Right now, there are zero discussions going on in the Senate or from the president on any plan regarding climate.
The only reason why the plan is a "huge flop" is because of the right wing smear job of it. People literally do not understand what it is, and FOX news have misrepresented what it is.
Also, Mitch McConnell blocked any discussion of the plan in the Senate. It has wide support amongst practically every Democrat in the presidential race.

Do you not think that global warming is a problem? Who else in government is talking about doing anything besides Democrats?

Yea I get it, in the sense that it can (supposed to) be seen as a Kickstarter of sorts for discussion. Somewhat because it's not as high on the list as it should be, and to raise awareness on the parties and public. But where I think she dropped the ball, and what her biggest weakness is in general, is that she went too far on the proposed ideas. When you're talking about removing airplanes and all electric cars in 12 years it's going to get ridiculed by a large amount of people, even some moderate democratic voters. She was right at the peak of being in the spotlight and could have used it to shine a more reasonable awareness light mainstream. With her throwing in radical ideas with a few decent ones, it made it far too easy to dismiss based on the radical ideas. That's why I feel it was terrible. The mainstream highlights of her GND were the absurd plans. I understand she is the progressive etc, but she needs to take a few pages from Bernie and learn when/how to hit. Not everything has to be a home run swing.

I do think it's something we need to start acting on a bit better. One day, it'll all catch up to us. Not in our lifetime, but maybe our grandkids one. Either way, I'd rather be safe than sorry so I do hope something is done to address it.

Solid post. I truly believe it's a huge mistake for her to be aligned with "the squad". It really doesn't benefit her, and the other three are basically riding on her popularity.

I really think Omar hates this country. She has a different level of rage to her. Maybe im wrong, but she just comes off as evil. I think she knows what she's doing, and is using AOC in the guise of friendship, amd AOC is falling for it.

they're part of "The Squad" apparently.
wtf. how is a rogue element good for the Dems?
ah, I get it. makes them edgy.
ok, maybe it will help.

A few things I think keep getting mixed up and misunderstood in this conversation. AOC didnt pull the 12 years number out of her booty. That number came from the United Nations. Not some small university in Arizona, the United Nations and the world's leading scientists.

If we have 12 years to do something, why are we talking about small changes? Big changes are going to be necessary to actually solve the problem. This is an urgent issue, and people are acting like we have all the time in the world to solve it. We don't. There is a time clock on this.

I don't understand why people are focusing on these parts of the conversation that don't really matter. Whether it's 12 years from now, or 35 years from now, this shit IS going to come to a head. If you dont feel the effects, it's going to be your kid, or your grandkids that do.

Even if you dont believe in global warming, you have to believe in math. Rising populations means more consumption, fewer resources, and more pollution. We have literal islands of garbage the size of France in the ocean, horrible air in major cities, and dirty water. This is only going to get worse if we don't make changes.

And to those changes, again, the GND is not saying ban airplanes and that there will be no plane travel in the next 12 years. The whole point is for us to start doing SOMETHING. Because we aren't taking this shit serious at all. Instead of talking about climate change, more people are talking about how stupid AOC is.
I do wish you guys would put aside your irritation or bias towards her and actually listen to the plan. I posted a video of her speaking about the issue earlier in this thread. She addresses these false claims of banning cows and airplanes, and that she is realistic on what can be done.

This shouldn't be a "left" issue. We all live on this planet. It truly is baffling to me how people are arguing against plans to clean up the environment.

We're doing more than any other nation on Earth. Why is that so difficult for you to grasp?
Also salt reactors are very very safe. In fact regardless nuclear is safer than any other form of energy. More people die working on windmills than with nuclear power. Facts, get some.

Oh and here's your girl owning the press again just like you said. She's always willing to speak to the press you know.

That's fucking insane. Refusing to condemn a fire bombing...

It's who they are.
I'm pretty certain most conservatives would condemn graffiti or bacon on mosque steps yet these broads won't speak out against actual violence.
They're a disgrace to America and should rightfully be called out for it as elected officials.

And it's all of them, not just her.

People from California bitching about climate change is pretty rich. They live in an irrigated desert...

This summer in Calgary has been one of the wettest in history. Normally the entire countryside would be brown. This year it's lush and green and we had a mild winter (for us.)

Basically people who lived in areas with a nice warm climate will now live in the desert and those if us who lived in cold climates before will get a turn living somewhere nice and warm.

Seems fair to me.

So what was the "Statement's she will be making later on that day" regarding Antifa?

I noticed that cunt Omar didn't have anything to say about Antifa either...

None. Instead she'll go on whining about criminals in cages and never mention antifa and their criminal actions nor will she offer an solution. Just whining.

Why is it so hard for you to grasp that that doesn't matter?
We are the most powerful nation on the planet, and you want to give us a gold star for cleaning up our own mess? You dont get praised for doing what you're supposed to be doing, especially when you're doing a half assed job of it.
It isn't enough.

This is simple math.
There are 195 countries on this planet. America is just 1 of them, and we only make up 5% of the human population on the planet, and even with any reductions we've made, we're still the 2nd biggest emitter, emitting about 15% of the carbon dioxide.
What happens when emerging developing countries start catching up to us and start consuming and spending like we do? It is unsustainable.

Lol that tweet is such disingenuous horseshit. She "refuses to.." is the line these hacks ALWAYS uses when they cant get someone to give them any of their time.
I swear Twitter is the absolute worse thing to ever happen to people. Because you guys turn off your brains.

She, or her staff knows who that guy is. She isn't going to give "reporters" like him the clickbait and views he wants. He goes on to ask her if she "feels responsible for the attacks", and if "she feels ashamed"
Lol he isn't the press.
Why the hell would AOC, or any liberal talk to "reporters" like this?

You act like this is unique. How often does Mitch McConnell appear on, or do interviews with reporters from MSNBC or The Young Turks? No politician is going to talk to someone that has an obvious agenda to make them look bad.

Its been great in the okanagan too. Only a week or two so far of +30c temps and weve had some very timely rains. Fingers crossed but this summer will be limited fires.
