Actually, a poll conducted by Siena College showed that about 58% of New Yorkers approved the deal and only 35% opposed it.

Among black voters, 70% approved while 25% opposed.
Among Latino/Hispanic voters, 81% approved while 17% opposed.

It seems like the community was informed and approved the deal. It was just AOC and her fringe socialists that didn't want Amazon there.

There's no debate over her intelligence. Complete and utter buffoon

So much rustling in here.

She looks a bit like Mackenzie Dern here.

There would be a lot of trade offs to Amazon moving in your neighborhood. Yes, there might be more jobs, but many of those jobs would be from people outside the state. That would mean an increase in traffic and housing costs in a place where those are already big problems. A local who is already paying a ton in rent and not in the tech industry would be wary of them.

Talks about "bad guys" and "dark money" in campaign financing.

Turns out her campaign was financed by some rich guy who was hired to become her chief of staff who paid her boyfriend as a sole "consultant."

LOL. This sh*t can't get any funnier. And her fans believe she is for the little people.

Nobody with any intelligence supports this fraud

what you are saying is 'all the problems of wealth, growth and success'.

And yes that is true. Whether it Amazon coming in or just normal growth and success everything you say can and does apply.

The best remedy for that, and to ensure less traffic problems, cheaper rent, is to see the area lose businesses and to start losing jobs.

We saw that directly in Calgary with Oil price dropping and a very Oil driven economy getting gutted. Suddenly one of the most expensive cities in N.America for parking and all sorts of troubles with traffic was almost a ghost town. Park anywhere and drive anywhere with almost no issues.

She says something stupid and then blames "the right" for it. That seems to be the gist of all her tweets.
Like a smarter Trump who does so and then tries to pretend he did not say it or suggest it was a fake news.

Do you feel the same about Trump who demonstrably says far more stupid things. Like, multiples more?

And I agree here view here is idiotic fwiw.

Most of the high paying tech jobs (and probably all of the lower paying menial jobs) would have been from the local population (New York area). Mayor De Blasio made a big huff about how Amazon was losing out on all of the tech talent in NY by backing out.

As for trade-offs, yes, there probably would have been some trade-offs. But what those trade-offs are and whether the local communities approve of them should have been decided by the people that live there, not by the voice of AOC (especially when it's not even in her district) and those few that blindly follow her. As I posted above, a poll conducted by Siena College showed that the majority of New Yorkers approved the Amazon deal. The vast majority of Blacks and Latino voters approved the Amazon deal. But AOC had to get in there and voice her unintelligent opinion which riled up a boisterous minority. AOC demanded that Amazon renegotiate the deal that was already in place and which most New Yorkers already approved of.

This sounds like a case of certain few elites (mainly on the left) who think they know better than what the people actually want. This is the mentality of leftists these days. "We have to protect the people because they don't know any better." B*tch, please! These people (especially New Yorkers) are intelligent and can think for themselves!

You guys are only saying these things about AOC because you're all threatened by her.... Did i do that right ?

I don't agree with Trump on many things. I agree with him financially. I don't think I've ever seen a bigger idiot than AOC. She's completely worthless.

Fair points, but it's also fair to point out that NYC is already very successful without Amazon. I imagine people believed the marginal utility Amazon would have brought to the local economy would not be worth the disruption it caused on the locals.

Then you definitely have not seen or paid attention to what Trump says. I would estimate and bet he makes 3 stupid comments for every one AOC does. And his are far more dumb.

If I create a thread simply to contrast the two so people like you can get a quick and easy education will that thread be left alone to stand?

and i have no issue with that argument.

I am not saying the Amazon subsidies where necessary or needed for NYC. That is up to them to determine.

I am just saying that many of the AOC and other complaints are simply 'anti-development', anti-corporate' far left talking points that do not hold up to scrutiny.

Please make that thread a reality!!!
