The 'controversy' comes from him suddenly getting that typical puffy, Botox-y look, not from him aging. A lot of times, once people go down that path, they will look incrementally more and more uncanny. It's so common now that many people barely notice it at first. And it's considered an ironic contrast to the more spiritual and Hollywood iconoclastic views he's expressed in public.
