The current state of the welterweight division is abysmal. Having Belal as champion was bad enough, but losing the title to this guy is downright absurd. Over the past two years he’s managed to split against an unkown can in Hafez and journeyman Holland, hardly elite performances to put it mildly. Imagine what an easy night it would be for guys like Shavkat, Garry, Buckley etc. hell even Wonderboy and MVP would handle him. At this point we’ll see the lightweight champion move up and dismantle him in his first defence, which only underscores how pathetic this division has become.

Well that all may be true but he whooped Belal’s ass.

So having Belal as champ was better than JDM who fights to finish every single time he is out there?

Also the guy is on an 18 fight win streak, always in barn burners and whether you want to admit it or not is a very well rounded fighter, I am not sure the likes of Shavkat, Garry or Buckley can beat him tbh and 50yr old Wonderboy and MVP??? LOL they would get fucking starched.

Absolute clown post honestly.

It's alright.

We've got Shavkat, Garry, Brady. All interesting title fights.

WW doesn't need Islam now.

LW needs Islam to stay there and fight Topuria that is the most exciting fight to make right now.

Only way this thread makes any sense is OP being salty AF cos he put money down on Belal and thought it was a sure fire thing.

The division itself is insanely stacked. Let me see...
3 former champs: Usman, Leon, Belal
Guys who could get a title shot now: shavkat, Buckley, and Brady
Then you have guys who can be there in a couple fights like Garry or Prates
A couple older guys who were contenders: wonderboy, Neal, and Colby

Then you have Islam coming in to shake it up even more. It's one of the best divisions of all time, but they rarely fight. Each guy should fight 3x in a year and we might sort this out.

>usman, leon, belal
Extremely stacked, this young and entertaining trio is epitome of a shark tank

Didn’t realise belal had so many fans on Sherdog. Lots of salty comments on here today.

He literally doesn't. There's just that many people who hate Jews that post here. Literally that's it.
I’m not a fan of Israel either and I’m stoked Belal lost. If they’re salty because of that then … lmao

Its been a weak division for years. I like JDM from an entertainment perspective and am happy he beat Belal but that makes 3 underwhelming transitional champs in a row now.

Every division from 170 up is markedly worse than it was a decade ago for some reason.
