The firing of Shokin had backing of the bi-partisan Senate Ukraine Caucus and signed by Senators Rob Portman (R-OH), Mark Kirk (R-IL), Ron Johnson (R-WI), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Chris Murphy (D-CT), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and urged then-Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko to press ahead with urgent reforms to the Prosecutor General’s office and judiciary.
