About a year ago rumors were going around that the filming for the movie was in dire straights and it needed reshoots. Now given the runtime does it mean they weren't 'reshoots,' meaning reshooting scenes because they were shit, but they were shooting additional scenes?

So many questions.
it was production delays due to the pandemic. as far as i know there were no major reshoots associated w/ this production.

As a fan of the graphic novels I’m stoked to hear they went deep into that world. Year One, The Long Halloween and Ego are said to be influences. The review embargo should be lifted soon. Advance word is that it’s dark & twisted.

<{jackyeah}>

those two and Man Who Laughs are my absolute favorites.

Not only that, but the given the runtime you'd think they're dedicating a significant amount of the first hour to it being the origin story if Batman.

Nope.

Which begs the question - What Batman story needs 3 hours to be told?

This really intrigues me, and I'm not sure if that's a good or bad way. It intrigues me and it actually makes me WANT to see the movie, IF the few reviewers I trust say its worth seeing.

The "dark" side of the Riddler is a story that's only been told in the comics/graphic novels. I'm very interested to see this take on the character.

Jeeez, The Long Halloween was just...

Bonkers!

Even the animated film had me riveted!

My favorite story was from way back when I was a teen. There was this one storyline where there was this bald guy with a .357 (dubbed the .357 killer by Gotham news), who would stalk and kill people seemingly at random. He had the whole of Gotham gripped in fear because you never knew if you could be next. Batman got on the case and that's when I saw the actual detective side of Batman take over the story for the first time. It was just mind-blowing to me.

The last really long movie I watched had too many really slowly walking scenes and other stuff they should have edited out.

I hope that Robert Pattinson never has to meet Richard Grayson, Tim Drake, Damian, Jason Todd, or any of the other employees or wards.

In my opinion, Nolan's movies were way better because they avoided showing characters like Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, Batwoman, and Red Robin.

Oh yeah I remember that one. Crazy!
The director says the new movie will place emphasis on the Batman’s detective prowess. Seems appropriate as this version of the Riddler (who from the trailers looks loosely based on the real life Zodiac Killer) should prove a complex adversary.

Same here.

I've always thought of The Riddler as a G-rated Batman villain, with the green suits and riddles that weren't even a challenge to Batman.

That said, I've only seen him in the 90s animated series and the Jim Carrey version.

So, adapting the character as a Zodiac Killer / Jigsaw serial killer? I'm 100% in.

Yeah Riddler has had various twisted versions of him done over the years. His character can lend itself to being dark and more twisted.

Ive been waiting to see outrage for peopel bitching that The Penguin is more like the damn penguin in the comics than like the bullshit danny devito one

Yooooooooo, Pattinson is gonna kill it.

The fuck? 3 hours for a solo superhero movie sounds a bit.... excessive.

Early screenings of the film said the film dragged a bit in the third act and that the dialogue got a little repetitive. I thought maybe they'd clean up the third act by trimming some fat, but with the official runtime being still at the near 3 hour mark; I guess Reeve's said fuck it, everything has to stay in the film.
