Really? What was the issue?
Thats the only superman movie i ever liked.
The acting is rough, the storyline was meh, and the fight scenes are messy. Henry Cavill looks the part, but I've never been a fan of his acting. Can't tell if it's the material given to him or if it's him, but even in BvS, it's clear that in the acting exchanges between Affleck and Cavill, Affleck is the superior actor.

So the downtown fights leave probably hundreds if not thousands of people dead, but Superman is willing to kill over a family? Makes zero sense to me. The Christopher Reeve Superman realized the damage his fight with Zod and his goons was doing to Metropolis and he moved the fight out of the city. That makes sense.

I left the theater pissed. I remember that.

Yea I thought MOS was great. I just recently rewatched it. CGI doesn't hold up as well as I remembered but still a great movie. I think using Zod was great because IMO he's one of the few enemies I ever felt was a real threat to Superman. Braniac would have worked as well.
I feel like Braniac will be the next big DCEU threat after they decide what they are gonna do with DarkSeid.

They should just have them fighting him in multiple movies or something and always a constant threat instead of a "overarching myth arc villian" like Thanos was for the MCU. I'm kind of sick of DC and sometimes Marvel doing the "you got this villian for one movie! Then we gonna kill em off!

I found cavill's supes was the only one that made superman interesting. He is such a dull ass character as a whole. I liked cavill's acting in it. Didnt see bvs because ben affleck sucks as batsy.

The destroyed city thing is because they need to make the movie have excitement, explosions blah blah. Explosions sells.

My fear is that this movie will not be that good. I want this movie to succeed so badly, but I just have this feeling. Trying not to get my hopes too high.

Last time I was this excited for a DC movie (Man of Steel), I was let down so badly to the point where I don't like Superman nearly as much as I did before watching it.

All reports from early screenings is that this movie is legit. The main issue is probably going to be the third act dragging and quite possibly Pattinson's Bruce being too mopey. Matt Reeves looks like he is going to get the Nolan treatment and have carte blanche and have final say in this bat-universe he is creating. I just hope he doesn't spread himself too thin with the upcoming Penguin and Catwoman stand alone series on HBO Max.

But yeah, I really think we are in for something special. March 4th cannot get here soon enough.

they should make a movie where all 20 of the batmans get in a royal rumble to see who the true batman is but all the spidermans would run in with chairs while all of the jokers sit in the stands laughing.

Id watch.

How do ya know if ya didn't see it?

Looks like Pattinson has been trolling the fans; he sparked outrage by saying he refused to bulk up to play Batman. The shirtless scene in the trailer proves he in fact been hitting the gym.

Well played, old chap;)

Same here.
Re-reading Year One for prep.
Just watched the short clip of Wayne speaking with Carmine Falcone. John Turtoro is playing Falcone in the way presented in The Long Halloween. As a complex Vito Corleone type.
Can't wait to see it.

The review embargo is up on 28 Feb. The premiere happened a few nights ago and there's no review embargo for a premiere. Well there is, but I think they're allowed initial reactions out of theater type tweets. The responses coming out of that premiere have been overwhelmingly positive.

Hanna Flint, MTV Movies: Matt Reeves delivers a nail-biting and fun Batman coming of age story

Unilad: Absolutely euphoric

Total Film: Sensational

Empire: Gripping

Shortlist: One helluva movie

Insider: Robert Pattinson will be your new favourite Batman

Not saying these folks are the end all be all, and after Monday we'll get a more realistic reaction to the movie, but this is pretty good news if you're hoping it's not utter dog crap.

Yeah I don't go by "first reactions" ever since they started just being marvel nut licker things

Its been hit it or miss. Sometimes it's really off and sometimes its accurate.

My worry about a film like The Batman is that its prone to benefiting from premiere bias. Plus early reactions usually lean toward giving more leeway and pointing out the positives. The more critical voices are usually quieter at this point.

Once the review embargo lifts we will see what's what. I'm hoping I'm wrong about this movie because personally I think its looked pretty meh by the trailers.

Im really not trying to be a marvel bs dc guy...but when it came out avengers was like 3 hours it was "omg yes slay queen
