I'm almost surprised. I thought they might have to forego it altogether to allow open carry.

Mind you over here it doesn't even have to be intentional. If you say "hi" to your neighbour while loading your ute for a hunting trip, and they feel threatened by the sight of you carrying a gun, you're screwed. In fact if you have a gun on the back seat of your vehicle and someone in a bus next to you sees it and feels scared, you could also be done.

The tricky part there is that the guy was ranting like crazy BECAUSE of the gun. What really set him off (it seems) is these guys threatening him with a gun in front of children. We don't know what was done or said before the guns came out.

People who view these guys as brave heroes simply assume the dead guy threatened them and caused them to spring into responsible, normal citizenry and execute their neighbor over a dumpster. People who view these guys as inbred hicks with a vigilante fetish assume they charged out of their trailer waving their guns around after watching 10 steven segal movies ready to kill.

The truth is we don't know, and assuming is stupid. Every single person in his video is trash IMO. But they way I see it to justify whipping a pistol out of his basketball shorts to begin with, he better have had a very good reason to think he needed to protect himself. Because someone putting a mattress in a dumpster where you don't want them to put it is not a good reason, nor is a verbal disagreement. Once the guns are out and the guy threatens them and goes after them with a bat is a different discussion. But how things got to that point in the first place is important to me.

What happened to needing guns to defend our homes and family? Now that applies to controlling the contents back alley dumpsters? Why bring a fucking gun? Especially whopper jr back there with the shotgun slung over his shoulder. Pretty funny to see this so vehemently defended when that guy is basically a caricature of a gun nut who thinks he's badass for owning a fun and just wants a reason to kill someone. These people make us all look bad, and this type of shit is a great argument for gun control. And that's coming from someone who doesn't want a gun ban or anything, it's just fucking bizarre to me for people to twist THIS bullshit into a "justified shoot"

I appreciate the Friday "you fight with these, Craig" mentality over the immediate resort to firearms, but big picture, knocking someone out (or potentially getting knocked out) over matters of civil dispute, particularly when only one party is in the right, is not a more enlightened social approach.

If the hillbillies weren't stupid, they would have thrown his mattress back in his yard, then waited, recorded him using their phones putting it back in, then called the authorities. They would have had irrefutable evidence the man was violating the ordinance, could have pressed charges, and seen him cited for the offense. If he repeated it call them right back. Of course, depending on where you live, calls like that often don't get answered. I recall the story about the martial arts teacher who had three bullets fly through the window of his dojo in Oakland, and when he called the cops, he was told he was over 600-deep in the queue, and likely wouldn't be paid a visit for a month.

So sometimes it's up to oneself to handle one's problems.

This is all presuming you couldn't just work out something more sensible like, "Hey, can you store that mattress on your own property until a week where the neighborhood is light on the trash the last day before picket, and then dump your mattress, then?" That would be the sensible, rational solution I would first seek to resolve this. However, you get assholes who are habitual users, and who respond, "No, go fuck yourself, I'll do what I want" no matter how earnest and compromising you are when you come to them with hat in hand. This "victim" seems like that kind of guy. He's used to yelling at people and intimidating them into getting his way. Well, that shit didn't work out so swell, this time, did it?

So perhaps he was a guy who went through life trying to bully people using your "fight with these" mentality as he did here. Now he's dead. Usually a disproportionate threat of consequence can resolve issues, immediately, without escalating them. This guy was too stupid to back down. Now he's dead, and I'm having difficulty finding blame with the hillbillies in the context of his recorded behavior.

They are now reporting that I made a terroristic threat when I told the mailman to stay away from the girls windows because he might get shot..I also have had Adult Protective Services called stating that I am not in my right mind 3 hours after all transpired I told them I am fine and asked why they were calling they said because Abilene Police Department called saying I was a danger to myself.. Not anyone else to myself.. I am so sick of the harassment everytime APD shows up to my door ...I DO NOT HAVE TO ANSWER MY DOOR I DO NOT HAVE TO TALK TO YOU IF YOU DONT HAVE A WARRANT GET THE FUCK OFF MY PROPERTY .....then louder then louder then louder till I HAVE no hold back. They stand there laughing as I have a breakdown they refuse to leave stating they dont have to have a warrant..I need a Lawyer I have the videos Im tired so tired of them not allowing me to calm down...I told them I would talk to a detective after the report was made...and still they woiuld not leave...I am tired of losing my mind to stressful situations So I went and got medicine for it only for APD not to allow me to stop an take to walk away from situations they refuse everytimeI got arrested a year or so going thru withdrawals from my meds telling the officer I needed them only for him to refuse an charge me with a disorederly conduct which I cannot control without my meds.. I admit it I take my meds I do whats right only to have APD numerous times keep me in mental Strain..
