They will claim upon first contact the dead man started hurling threats, which prompted one of the dynamic duo to unholster his firearm. That is reasonable. None of us know the chain of events prior to the film rolling but that seems a likely scenario. I understand your point but it's likely too simplistic. The dead man's family should have tried to reign him in. It seems this over the top behavior was part of an established personality. Don't tell armed men you're going to kill them multiple times is the lesson.

If he had the bat, made the threats, then they pulled their guns out, sure. But they could have called the cops long before he grabbed the bat if he threatened them already, and then used their guns if he rushed them while waiting for the police. They wanted to prove their machismo and make a point, which isn't what gun rights are for.

Anger problems guy already knows where you live and now he has a reason to freak out because he knows you called the cops on him.

Maybe he comes to your house armed and shoots you.

Yes, if I thought it was a reasonable threat to my life, and my legal defense could convince a jury of this, then that jury would be given instructions from the judge that this is reason to find me not guilty.

Little advice, dont do this unless you have 100k put away for a lawyer. I got like DUI, knocked someone out legal defense saved. Not quite to shoot someone in the face legal defense savings yet. Another reason not to fuck with armed old people. They can afford to shoot you in the face.

Man, I disagree. I grew up around guys that if people didn't have guns, they would have been absolute monsters in society. Hell, so would I, when I was a youth.

I was strong arm robbing drug dealers. That shit is retarded. It is a great way to get killed. The guy was too cheap to go pay his fee to the dump for his bulk item. They were, at least pertaining to the garbage, in the right, and the unhinged dead idiot was violating the ordinance.

Maybe there are laws about provocation, but as far as the actual altercation itself, these guys appear to be justified in defending themselves. I will be interested to see how Texas law handles this.

This takes the cake. this is the most senseless, unnecessary death you will see. Everyone involved was an idiot. The man that was shot appeared to pull out a baseball bat after screaming at the armed hillbillies, you can tell because in the full video he throws the baseball bat after the two pistol shots.

In a way it's hard to not say it was self defense...the guy drew a baseball bat and said he would kill them.

Anyways I am using this to soap box on gun owners. It is very obvious to me that some gun owners think that buying some 300$ EC9 or mossberg shockwave that they are now powerful. This is merely an observation of mine. I have bought 10+ guns in the last year, I am around gun nuts all the time because shooting is fun. I am just observing this commonality in the community. One of my friends texted me "I feel so powerful" after he bought his first ar15. I was disturbed because even if he was joking that isn't something I would even think to say because it's weird as fuck.

This video in particular has kind of fucked me up. Last week I was walking my dog and some lady on the path started ordering me off the path because my dog was "going to attack her". She was crazy. I just ignored her because why would I entertain that? Ego. I should have just complied.

Instead I just ignored her and held my dog's leash tighter. When I was within 10 feet or so she bladed her stance and put her hand on her hip like she was about to draw on me. All I said to her was "you are not about to shoot my dog". She did not do anything, because obviously she was just trying to intimidate me to do what she wanted. I can't help but feel like she thought the fact that she was armed meant she could get me to do what she wanted.

In the video you hear the now deceased man ordering the two fat fucks what to do, "go back inside and put the gun away" when he himself could have done the exact same thing.

I understand why gun owners are viewed so negatively now.

Isn't that considered brandishing, which is illegal?

The video wasn't that bad. The camera is jumping all over at the time of the shooting, and then you see dude face down on the ground and the woman screaming.
But you got the gist.

I actually watched it frame by frame and you can't see much but... I do think the son took aim and fired a kill shot at a wounded man that was trying to retreat. I don't know what the laws are for that, but if he didn't fire that shot, the guy might have survived.

Here's a scenario that's not being considered :

What if the idiot threw his bat at them, and then turned around and started running away?

If they shot him in the back of the head as he was running away, that means they were no longer in any danger but still chose to kill him because.....reasons.


Again, this is just a scenario as we have no real clear idea what occurred....

Right, but I mean this in general society too. Me and my friends used to like to run around acting a fool. I remember a time where we were fucking around camping. We got into it with some locals. We were were used to just punking people out. These backwoods good old boys went and got about 20 of their friends, after they surrounded us with guns, they threw Molotov cocktails on our campsite, and ran us off with a few shots in our general direction.

That was a good lesson for me. One taught by some John Wayne vigilantes.
