IMO homeless are failed by public services, so some lose their compassion for others. They have no way of shaking things up, so some will take the option given (Trump etc). They can see the liberal systems that claim to help people are woeful and underresourced (immigration increasing demand doesn't help, nor does immigration help housing costs - housing costs/cost of living (now largely driven by housing costs) are the biggest factor of homelessness). It's gonna vary from place to place, but in some places drug addiction usually starts post-homelessness, to deal with the experience - the longer people are homeless, the more likely they are to start using. Non-homeless drug addiction itself is sometimes a coping mechanism/self-medication for failing public services. A high % of alcoholics and addicts have extensive childhood trauma (eg a Tenessee drug clinic found 92% of 1000+ patients had an ACE score of 3+. Plenty of other research into this), which to me is a failing of education, social services and healthcare systems. In the US a huge % of homeless are veterans. Last year I regularly saw a young homeless man in my town, who looked fresh-faced - highly doubt he did drugs. Six months later the same guy looks a total mess. A lot of motherfuckers who will never be at threat of homelessness are lazy, incompetent fucks, but happen to have a good safety net or other supports (eg to get onto work paths) - it's rarely that they've done more "internal work" to stay non-homeless lmao, not even close. You can find many of them working in government departments too.
Agreed but why this now? No violent acts being performed not intimidation and yet we have intentional blocking of a sidewalk in front of a Tesla store that is on a public sidewalk. Or when there was a peaceful protest in front of a Tesla store and was broken by Police. No one should support destruction of company property but I believe that some of these things where intentional but you cannot say anything like this yet the right was blaming BLM of every kind of event without actual evidence.
