Economy Tariffs for one, Tariffs for all! (doubled tariffs on China)

To get companies to build in the US to avoid tariffs.
If he was doing it surgically, that would make sense. An all out global attack? He's gonna be getting hit from all sides and kill the incentive to invest in America all the same. China alone can hurt you pretty bad with retaliatory tariffs. Now add half the world to that.

Yea, I'm a little confused by all this to be honest.

That's not how tariffs work, and even if that's the goal wouldn't you want to build the manufacturing first before the tariffs are in place so you don't have to pay them just to build the infrastructure?

This is closing the barn door after the horses already escaped.
I think all the horses already escaped with that guy . Lol

I think the biggest problem is noone on the right seem to understand how a fucking tariff works.
If only there were history books that did deep dives on what proceeded the Great Depression and the impact of Tariffs.
Books are for Beta Cucks!

OK, but if I am a business why would I build if tariffs are flying everywhere? If anything I would cut spending because it's more expensive to move. Additionally, if companies want to build in the US and it requires skilled labor where will I get this labor without it costing said company significantly more?

Because you want your company to be profitable in the gargantuan American consumer market?

The reason this is so scary is because the US has lost so much manufacturing clout. We've lost everything since the turn of the century. We don't build cars here anymore. Textiles. Metal. We've lost it all to Mexico. Wel literally can't produce anything here because the playing field is not level.

Yeah, yeah. I get it. I don't want to pay more for shit either. Who does? That said, the US economy has been raped and pillaged for 30 years now. We've lost tons of manufacturing to Mexico.

Its about time someone tried to bring something back here.

For a company to manufacture here they're going to have to pay the wages in USD and cover most of the employees health care premiums because there's no universal health care. That's pretty damn expensive in USD, and the end consumer is going to have to pay the markup. ChatGPT is estimating 20-30% over Mexico and 10-20% over Canada.
