Taking Beatings & Forgetting Names

See? Brandon's already starting the pre-fight trash talk. Don't be the guy who sinks the fight, Missus.

We could make it an open-weight tournament. Enright, stoney and standard could join in, too.

No, SB, hang out! We'll find 3 more folks, Im sure.

Oh wow... a one night, 8 man tourney? This idea keeps getting better and better.

I reserve the right to pull a Jimmerson, however. :)

do you get sore ankles from running volume?

Sore ankles from volume running seems to affect my boxing, my ankles begin to hurt towards end of rounds

Personally, my knees are affected more than my ankles from running. However, I am lucky in that I rarely have any joint pain once my muscles and joints are warmed up. Whenever I am not warm, I'm pretty creaky. Going up stairs for example can be pretty painful.

Notes: One of the guy's who used to coach at our gym came in today to give us some work. He was the Golden Glove runner up a few years ago, and it was definitely good to get a new look against a guy who is much better than I am. He is an excellent counter-puncher and made me go forward a lot. Had some success with uppercuts inside and a double jab when I would actually commit to it. Chilling out on Saturday to rest up for the marathon.

What was your time Shatzy? Eat some cheezburgers and drink up.

San Francisco Marathon
26.2 Miles in 4:25 (10:11 Mile Pace)

Notes:
A lot of the course itself is a blur, but I do remember not enjoying the section that went over the Golden Gate bridge. The course narrowed so severely that you had to be very careful not to step on people's heels or bump into folks. Water and cytomax stations were set up every 2 miles or so, and that was a big help. The section through the park was a lot better, as the trail widened and runners were able to spread out. I felt very strong up through the 19 mile mark. At no point was I ever winded, but my knees are started bothering me pretty badly, and my right hamstring was in danger of completely cramping. A pit stop for water, electrolytes, and ever more energy gel restored me somewhat, and I got a 2nd (or 4th) wind in Portero Hill.

Israel and I stayed with the pace group until mile 24, and then kicked at the end. I am proud that I was able to go through the finish line at a near sprint. The final time was 4 hours and 25 minutes. No world-class runners need fear me breaking their PR's, but I was pleased with the time as a first (and only) effort.

Muscles are a bit sore today, but the main concern is that I can barely walk due to knee and foot pain. My fight is a go for Saturday, August 1st, so priority #1 right now is recovery. I am skipping the gym tonight, but I am going to go for along walk to get some blood to the muscles in my legs. The rest of the evening will be spent with ice baths, tiger balm, contrast showers, and stretching.

Wow. I'm genuinely impressed. Hell of a run.

Not sure if you're insane to try to put a marathon in the same week as a boxing match, but impressive nonetheless.

Great job Schatzy. If you have a chance on your walk, go stand in the cold water. It'll feel good.

Thanks guys. Liquid, not sure I follow in regards to the "Stand in cold water while on your walk" comment...
