Yesterday he released a video on one of the worst critics on YouTube.

Lol goddamn, that was quite the takedown of Critical Drinker.

A perfect example of the media illiterate preying on even more media illiterate people. Dude does not understand anything he talks about.

“Posting clips that are constantly undermining his argument”

You should hear Drinker live, he's lost without a script. He doesn't know film, only grievance. He's the Incel Whisperer.

George R.R. Martin's Take on SUPERMAN: "One of the Best Superman Movies in a Long Time... Maybe Ever"

"Supes and I are old friends, and this is one of the best Superman movies in a long time… maybe ever. This new Superman reminds me of the version I used to read about when I was a kid, the strange visitor from another planet who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. (And yes, an innocent, of course, he’s always been an immigrant. And an illegal immigrant, when you stop to think of it).

"The film looks great, and James Gunn did a great job with the casting. Rachel Brosnahan was terrific as Lois Lane; I’d say it’s between her and Margot Kidder for Best Lois Ever. And there’s no doubt whatsoever for the Best Lex. Nicholas Hoult was far and away the Best Luthor of All Time, a truly chilling villain. The kid in the cape was excellent as well. I hope he gets to play Kal-El in another dozen movies."

The flying scene that hit me hardest in the feels in modern memory is this one: "Come home, Billy."

Billy instantly discarding his uncertainty and indecision to rescue his real family was as good as it gets in superhero films.

Thats a top tier sequence on the roof; I honeslty don't even remember it which is surprising given how good it is

Billy Batson finally finds his birth mother and she tells him she didn't lose him, she abandoned him. That's the hall he's standing in after she closes the door on him. He has a phone because Dr. Sivana is in his home, threatening his foster family, and he's told to "come home, Billy".

He had previously been terrified to trigger the transformation and fly, but in this moment all that is gone and all that matters is saving them. There is no hesitation or delay. Previously he had just been messing around with his powers trying to make a buck and almost killed people with a bus, but this is the flash point where he becomes a hero. I have very few memories of Shazam but I will never lose this one.

Seriously, this is why I watch these movies.

Credit for that heartbreaking scene of Billy being rejected by his biological mom goes to former DC Films boss Walter Hamada who suggested that twist. The Shazam writer pushed back that it's too heavy for a lighthearted movie. Hamada insisted, “Just try writing it. He finds his mom, and she doesn’t want him. If it doesn’t work, we have the cemetery scene. Try it.”

That entire sequence is one of my all time favorites and completely made the film for me.

Yeah, pretty much agree with everything in the op. 8/10 seems spot on. Reminded me of the first Tobey Maguire Spiderman a lot. A lot of super hero films today feel like a factory line product whereas Spiderman had a lot of heart, and that's how I feel coming out of this.

Crisis got a bad rap because the parts were released too far apart which added to the complexity.

Probably so, I remember having to rewatch 1 and 2 just before I watch the 3rd because I can't remember the smaller details because they were released months apart despite being a continuous storyline. I liked it though.

This film did a lot of things well, but missed the mark with Superman himself.

Lois Lane and Luthor were well executed, as was the Justice Gang.

I didn’t like how Clark/Superman was so whiny, impulsive, and irritable though. I get what they were going for.. trying to portray his human side, and show that he was emotional and flawed like anyone.. but I didn’t like it.
I also didn’t feel like James Gunn’s tone fit with Superman, but that’s no surprise.

Hideo Kojima's Review of SUPERMAN, Calls It a "Heartwarming Human Film"

Hideo Kojima: "Since I’ve been on a world tour, I hadn’t had the chance to watch it, but this morning, I finally got to see James Gunn’s “Superman.” It was good. It was neither dark nor stylish, cool or even “super.” The perspective of the audience—the distance and elevation—is different from the “Superman” we used to LOOK UP (into the sky) to. This film gently observes the human being Clark Kent and Superman as one and approaches him from the same human perspective. It’s a heartwarming “human” film. The movie itself wasn’t “punk,” but “Punkrocker” by Teddybears, with vocals by our very own Iggy Pop, played during the credits — that part was pure punk, and it was amazing."
