SUMO - 2024 Aki Basho (Sept 8th - Sept 22th)

What is happening with nephew?

Not looking like an Ozeki that's for sure.

With Takakeisho basically gone, and Hoshoryu and Kirishima being so inconsistent, i can't see anyone stopping Onosato or Kotozakura taking the Yusho. Honestly i can't see how Onosato doesn't become Yokozuna in the next few years if he stays injury free. Terunofuji will probs retire in 2025 but i think we're gonna be ok with the crop coming through.

Hell, Kotozakura, Onosato and Takerufuji will probably be ruling Sumo by 2026. Now if only Hakuoho could get a healthy ankle, shoulder and not be under the weather. Healthy Hakuoho was god-tier.

Onosato Yusho looking more and more likely.

Oho probably sitting out tomorrow if that swelling on his eye doesn't go down.

Angry Hoshoryu finally turns up, need to see this version more often.

Takerufuji still winning.

I saw a post on Reddit saying Hoshoryu's high school coach died on the 12th. He seemed really heartbroken he wasn't able to win that day.

Takanosho is a Taka No Show this Basho after looking so good last basho.

Nephew had some very strong sumo today, no chaos lord could stop that attack.

Kirishima looking very good, only one off the lead. We've missed this kind of performance

Onosato looks so good. In Juryo, Takerufuji also looks as sharp. When those two reach the top, it's gonna be a great time for Sumo.

Hoshoryu can look so powerful and skilled some days and other days he trips on his own feet or gets pushed out by scrubs.
unless he fixes it he'll be a forever ozeki.

Do you think it's a mindset thing or he hasn't figured out his own style of attack?

Mindset. He's got all the physical and technical tools needed to reach yokozuna. At his best he could beat anyone on the roster EXCEPT Teru, and that's a mental issue.
Also, work on a more offensive tachiai.

Kirishima keeping up, if Ono slips up once.

Takerufuji and Hakuoho taking Ls today
Elsewhere, Enho is undefeated at Jonidan I will always enjoy that little madman

You really had to do Enho like that huh? Interestingly Enho's stablemate Kawazoe, who became Kiyo and then got badly injured, has now returned to being Kawazoe and is undefeated this basho.

It hurts seeing Hakuoho constantly injured and losing to people he'd normally beat. Peak Hakuoho was peak Sumo.

Week Two Shodai tossed Gonoyama around
maximum chaos
