SUMO - 2024 Aki Basho (Sept 8th - Sept 22th)

He's had a few close calls, but it's all Onosato going into the last few days.

I'm hoping he finishes with a 13 - 2
He seems to really struggle with Hoshoryu, I'd like to see him adjust but the final stretch will be telling

jesus fuck that waka match. how the hell do you spin a huge dude like onosato while balancing on the edge of the ring.
fantastic stuff from WTK

highway robbery from Abi against Hoshoryu.

I just wish Hoshoryu used this brand of sumo across all 15 days.
Onosato not

Damn Hosh dumped Kirishima hard. Gonna be weird when Onosato inevitably gets a new Shikona, unless it's Yokosato of course.

Onosato totally lost today by touching the floor with his hand.

tbh I stopped watching sumo since so many of the guys I liked dropped to Juryo or retired, any new small wrestlers in the current crop?

Onosato's got more yusho than all the active ozeki put together.
Kinda says it all.

I thought your 33 wins had to come at sekiwake rank? Two tournaments ago Onosato was still at komusubi. I guess just being in sanyaku is enough?

Maybe trying to give him a rush?
Maybe because he has 2 Yuhso in 3 basho?

no, it's 33 while in sanyaku going towards ozeki. the rule you think about is the yokozuna promotion, when you HAVE to be ozeki and win 2 in a row (for most cases). it doesn't matter if you won 5 in a row before, you need to get two in a row at ozeki.
