no, it's 33 while in sanyaku going towards ozeki. the rule you think about is the yokozuna promotion, when you HAVE to be ozeki and win 2 in a row (for most cases). it doesn't matter if you won 5 in a row before, you need to get two in a row at ozeki.

Thanks for the clarification. Considering the modern record for most career yushos by a never-yokozuna is 5 by ozeki Kaio, if somebody actually won 5 in a row I imagine the YDC would at least consider bending the rules for them. Like continued success at ozeki might see them promoted even if the yushos were not quite consecutive.

Onosato has competed in 5 basho in Makuuchi, he has won 2 Yusho, he has taken at least 1 special prize in each basho totalling 8 overall.
His Makuuchi debut was of course January.

Myogiryu has also retired from competition after 15 day kyujo in September made sure to send him to makushita. He'll stay with the association.

Terutsuyoshi who retired in March due to diabetes made his debut in MMA this month. He defeated a Korean powerlifter by KO @ganryujima. He used no salt.

Saitama Sakae high school lost 2 alumni after takakeisho and myogiryu retired but 3 new sekitoris are about to be born in November. Other Saitama Sakae high school grads include kotozakura, tobizaru, hokutofuji, daieisho, bushozsn, and kotoshoho. They dominate ozumo like West Texas State alumni ruled American prowrestling.

I will miss Takakeisho, he was a strong Ozeki and there is no shame in that especially when years of weak and failing Ozeki came and went.
