Sumo SUMO - 2024 Aki Basho (Sept 8th - Sept 22th)

It seems we don't have a new thread for the November Basho but we're on Day 2 and while Sherdog was down yesterday I don't think it's an issue to bump this one for now
 
November ended. Really good tournament kotozakura gets his first yusho
Hoshoryu looked great too. His first loss bugged me, thought there should've been a matta but he looked so focused and that slip on day 15 was devastating

These threads got me into Sumo 12 years ago. Im glad theyre still here.
 
So if I'm not mistaken, Hoshoryu and Kotozakura should both technically be eligible for yokozuna promotion after the January basho depending on results in that tournament, right?

I think if the results are the same but Hoshoryu wins in January they should probably both be promoted.

They've both had consistency issues but neither has had a losing record in some time. On top of the fact that Terunofuji is being held together by the hopes and dreams of the Sumo Association.


Also, they had 2 opportunities to promote Takakeisho off a Yusho and Jun-yusho and didn't. Who knows what they'll decide
 
Oh man, I have a lot of catching up to do with this!
