I mean, Rumble fought at welterweight
Karo wasn’t that strong but his technique was solid and GSP just plain powered out multiple times. Not saying being stronger than Karo is a feat but that powering out of a good judokas armbars and Kimora’s is.I think you're mixing up timing and speed with power. Not saying GSP was a weak guy but Karo wasn't all that strong compared to most WWs and from what I have heard from Sonnen and Rashad talk about grappling with GSP they mostly talk about how good he was at setting up takedowns and how fast he was and how good his timing was. I don't think he's in that group of guys like Lombard, Woodley, Hendricks, Lawler and prime Hughes in terms of strength but he had better timing and fight IQ than all of them and was faster than most too.
I guess because he’s in a car with no roofWhy Woodley not in there?
Yeah and since Lombard never did a muscle up before that he didn't have the timing or technique so it's even more impressive.
20 muscle ups isn't really a test of strength. I mean, it's not the sort of thing you see at worlds strongest man, but you do at the worlds biggest douche contests. Sorry, I mean crossfit games.GSP is way too high on your list IMO, he had great timing and fight IQ. Lawler is stronger than him. Hendricks would be up there, Woodley and Usman too but Lombard was probably the strongest WW ever.
The Lombard muscle up story was on JRE either episode 235 or 302. Josh said a bunch of fighters in the gym were trying muscle ups and failing then Lombard goes and does 20 in a row like it's nothing.
Bro a few posts up talking about Hughes couldn't leverage his strength in real life situations clearly never saw a Hughes fight. If we are just talking pure raw strength, it’s Hughes by a mile.

Who was the fighter that Mike Swick said to his corner was ridiculously strong? Why did I think that was Pierce? Wasn't Shields able to outwrestle Dan Henderson and Damien Maia?Shields and Pierce? I would say those guys have below average strength for WW.
Do We need to mention P4P when only discussing heavyweights?Pound for pound it's Matt Hughes. He would probably be a LW today because he's about the size of Michael Chandler, but he had that godly mixture of farmboy strength and steroid abuse that made him unbeatable for years.
Overall strength, I agree with Hendricks, Lombard, Woodley, Usman, and Lawler. Lawler didn't display his wrestling much but the way he threw Askren into the air just showed how much raw strength he had.
Idk about Rumble, of course he had the most strength potential but he was so drained at WW that I wouldn't put him in this list.
That was Okami. Yes, Shields outwrestled Hendo but his wrestling has always been overrated in MMA, he's been out wrestled by Misaki, Ninja, Shogun, Wanderlei and Rampage. Hendo also is better at 205 than he is at 185 where he has cardio problems. Shields didn't out wrestle Maia, Maia got way more takedowns, Shields kept reversing him though.Who was the fighter that Mike Swick said to his corner was ridiculously strong? This thread is about p4p strength, world's strongest men are not p4p that strong cause they carry a lot of fat. You're talking about who is strongest regardless of weight.20 muscle ups isn't really a test of strength. Yes! Okami. I admit I'd have to rewatch some fights give you some proper feedback. Agreed Henderson had poor stamina at that weight. That was Okami. Hughes was arguably declining by the time he fought GSP, at the very least he was before they rematched. I think you're still thinking that wrestling is all about strength and its not I think Alves was stronger than GSP when they fought he just wasn't as good of a defensive wrestler as someone like Hendricks is.Karo wasn’t that strong but his technique was solid and GSP just plain powered out multiple times. Not saying being stronger than Karo is a feat but that powering out of a good judokas armbars and Kimora’s is.
Rashad and Sonnen both talked about how good he was as well as how strong he was. Rashad specifically talked about how if he was in a bad spot GSP could just overpower light heavyweights to get in a better position.
As for Hughes I suppose it’s hard to say, we weren’t in their grappling exchanges so we don’t really know but he definitely looked stronger every time they tied up. The only fight GSP had where he didn’t look noticeably stronger than his opponent was Hendricks.
For you who is the strongest ufc welter weight ever?
This is my personal ranking:
1. GSP
2. Usman
3. Matt Huges
4. Gastelum
5. Lawler
Do you agree with my personal ranking?
I think GSP is the more complete WW fighter but Kamaru and Huges are very near him. A step down I put Gastelum who fought the toughest competition and Lawler who is a very dangerous man.
