Media Makhachev: I will take Kamaru Usman as my next challenger, he's the biggest name

Khamzat injured his hand in round 1 vs Kamaru and he also had a fever and considered pulling out.

He was 100% healthy when he fought Dricus and he worked very hard on his cardio specifically in that camp.
How do we know how good his cardio was for the DDP fight when he laid and prayed for 20 mins.

Fact is he shot his load in the first round against Usman and didn't look great after that.

Besides laying and praying, he also hit him 500+ times and put him in many bad positions.

His takedowns looked pretty explosive even in the later rounds vs Dricus, whereas he was way slower in the later rounds vs Usman.

That points to his cardio being improved.

Besides that, he also spoke about how he previously used to overtrain (leading to illness), but that he is taking his recovery more seriously since the Whittaker camp.

500 love taps 😄. You're taking the piss right?

Sure, most of them were love taps.
37 significant strikes (more than Islam vs Jdm).

He had a few moments where he had Dricus in a crucifix and actually managed to land damaging blows, but overall he did a good job avoiding the worst.

Put Islam or Khamzat up against worse opponents and there will be round 1 finishes (Holland, Jingliang, Hooker, Green, etc).

It becomes boring when they're up against fighters who are good enough to stay safe on the ground, but too bad to get up or reverse the positions, and too bad to defend takedowns.

What's any of that got to do with cardio?

No one can tell if his cardio is improved because he got control and did very little in terms of serious aggression and explosive movements, it was a lay and pray job.

Obviously we can tell that his cardio improved, because he was still fast with his takedowns even in the later rounds.

I sense some sour grapes and lack of objectivity.
If it was really lay and pray he wouldn't have bothered to advance to the crucifix 4-5 times or hit him 500+ times.

Fast with his takedowns - he's always had a very fast shot 😄

You're totally missing the point, but hey ho, fanboys gonna fanboy.

Check rounds 2 and 3 vs Usman and you will see that his shot is a lot slower than vs Dricus.

I'd buy it simply because kamaru got one thing the others don't, TDD
That will give Morales more time to work on his TDD

Arre yaar this is like Da Hawaiian Hitman calling to Tim Sylvia or The Dumpling instead of Makini Manu 🤦🏾

Sorry, but at this point in Usman's career he has no business to be in the same cage with Islam.

I don't think the UFC will even entertain this match up as I don't think this fight sells. But then it might explain why Dana had Usman number 1 WW of all time and GSP not even in his top 5 recently.

Probably because he, you know, actually tried to land some damage and end the fight.
So him completely overhauling his training/recovery regimen along with training with coach Cal, and not having a fever and hand injury had nothing to do with it?

You think it's reasonable to expect his cardio to be worse when he's healthy compared to sick?

It doesn't make much sense.

I've seen no evidence of it and neither have you.

The clips of the training regime I saw looked vigorous, but how does it compare to what he did previously? I don't know, but I do know that you seem mightily impressed by 21 mins of lay and pray.
