Up here in Finland it's cold as fuck right now. Yesterday morning when I walked to school, the meter read -37,4 C (apparently -35 F) and this morning about -35 C. I think it has never been this cold in my lifetime.
Okay, so it's not actually that cold here then. -35 is insane, it never gets anywhere close to that round here, I think we're only hitting -5 or so at the moment.

Indeed it is. The walk to school was fun until my eyelashes began to freeze together...

Finland? I think its amazing that people from other countries know such good english, its awesome. and i struggle with my own language much less another one.

the nearest comps would be in different states and i still dont feel good enough to go all the way to another state with my total(825). When i break a thousand ill go.

Yikes, we had a good week of that earlier in january in Saskatoon, below -30 weather, but thankfully it's only about -20 with the sun out now.

I'm an idiot.

I did some snatches (some sets with some weights, building up to two singles with my old PR of 60kg), then felt I should deadlift heavy. Managed to build up to 185 for a single but then bombed on 205. Then had a go at safety bar squats (these feel weird) built up to a set of 5 with 80kg. Day was saved by a lot of gripper and sledge levering work that felt pretty good.

Next week will be a really light deload week, both because I think I could do with it and because the judo varsity match is nect saturday.

It amuses me to spread random quotes through my posts, hence the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy reference in the FAQ.

Closed the CoC#2.5 for the first time today, followed up with a bunch of singles for each hand on the #2 and some ring and pinky closes with my filed and clamped HG150.

Thats hella cold man, i think at - 40 C and F are equal. I remember the very odd time here we would get around those levels, i think worst i've been in with windchill it was near -50 or something retarded, cancelled school beause you couldn't start a desiel engine.

I love when you take a deep breath and you can feel your snot freeze, in your nose

Even lovelier it gets when you start feeling out of breath and have to breath through your mouth. The feeling of lungs freezing is great... I usually try to avoid that by breathing through a scarf or something though.

This is driving me nuts. I can't seem to find the rammstein song you used in your powerlifting comp video. Help me out, will you?

EDIT: Nevermind, found it all by my lonesome.

Trouble finding 'Sonne'? You digust me.
I'm sorry Mr. Smashius sir....

Decided to turn my light week into a complete rest from lifting, with the possible exception of a little grip work, to allow myself to prepare for the judo this saturday.

big tournament this weekend?
Cambridge university vs. Oxford university, oldest ongoing annual judo competition outside of Japan apparently (77 years this year), featuring the second oldest judo club outside of Japan (us, Cambridge, 101 years old this year; also the oldest in Europe).

We take it pretty seriously, basically it's our best 8 fighters against their 8 best, heaviest fighter on one team fights the heavyiest on the opposing team and so on (this lead to me taking on a second dan who outweighed me by 25kgs (55lbs) last year). Same deal for the women's team, except they only have 5 payers per team.

Hopefully should have a vid of my match, although I may not post it if I get binned in 5 seconds.

I forgot you were in Cambridge. I was just at Mildenhall a couple of days ago. Damn.

Oh fuck.

That is really rather annoying, my game plan went out the goddamn window, I did'nt even try half my best throws and yet was still leading on points after two rather nice double leg takedowns, I'd also had a butterfly choke sunk perfectly when the ref got bored and stoof us up (some days I really hate judo refs). So I stuff a drop seionage attempt and work for a choke, only problem is I'm starting to get really tired and manage to forget to control his body properly, he turns into me and catches me in scarf hold. Can't get the leverage to get free and get timed out in the hold.

We ended up losing 5-3 (even if I'd won we'd still have lost on total points anyway so I don't feel too bad about it).

Back to lifting this week. I'm currently thinking I might add a second press day (as I've done before, and use it in line with NKs ME day suggestions).

You wouldn't get better by winning all the time. Gotta lose sometime.
Yeah, I nkow, and the guy's actually a very good judoka. Still, I feel I could have won that fight, so it annoys me.
