* Stipe refusing to fight until contract is re-negotiated !

mods - please merge with the other thread of the same topic ! dammit.

"It definitely should change," Miocic said. "But the fact that [Overeem and JDS) made more money than me in my last fight was just kind of a slap in the face.

"[It's] terrible. Things definitely need to be changed. Something's gotta change. It's not really fair."

Miocic's typically quiet and workman-like demeanor hasn't done much for his brand as a marketer. He did, however, go public in June upon the announcement of the August pay-per-view boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor by pleading for a spot on the undercard against unbeaten boxing champion Anthony Joshua of England.

Look, I like Stipe but he's not a draw for whatever reason. JDS and Overeem are bigger names and that's why they made more. I don't like the idea of a fighter holding out until he gets money he isn't deserving of due to popularity reasons. Don't get me wrong, I understand where's he coming from, but people were watching to see Overeem and JDS more than him.
They make more because they have been doing this for so long, and they have bigger names than him.

The UFC is horrible at promoting fighters. Unless they can shit talk. The UFC is just useless.

Dude from Ohio, who happens to moonlight as a Paramedic/firefighter. And he's knocking out the biggest names in the sport, in the FIRST fuckin round. One win away from a UFC record.

If you can't sell that. You're not very good at your fuckin job.

Bingo. The UFC is primarily concerned with self-branding and is awful at promoting fighters. They generally only promote fighters who either: (1) act like cartoon characters; or (2) have what they deem "all american" looks and appeal. It creates a self-fulfilling prophecy where the company fails to promote a fighter, the fighter draws poor numbers, then the company refuses to market them because they're not marketable.

Ultimately, the promoter's job is to sell the talent to the masses. And, as you said, there's plenty to sell when it comes to Stipe. But the UFC is absolutely clueless on such things.

he needs to realize he doesn't have an over the top WWE personality and he doesn't have a huge record. JDS and Overeem got paid more because they've been putting in the work. they were at the top of MMA when nobody even knew who Stipe was.

if he really thinks he's the best, he should wait. give it some time, fill up on title defenses and he'll be undeniable. people are gonna say, "but look at Mighty Mouse" but that's different. Stipe is the HW champion and he finishes people. give it some time Stipe, the people will come around.

But he does have a contract. And if he is refusing to honor the contract the UFC can easily strip him and Move on. And they would not really be wrong in doing so. If they are offering him several fights and he keeps saying no, The ball is in his court. The UFC is doing what they are required to do on their end.
Every month we hear about rising fighters complain about their contracts.

Clearly there is more to this issue than "he signed the contract" because fighters continue to fight and the complaining goes away. There's two likely outcomes:

1) Their managers tell the fighters "you signed the contract" and they suck it up and continue to be unhappy.
2) UFC works with fighters to keep them happy and both sides compromise.

There's literally no reason, in 2017, to come into these topics and simply say "he signed the contract" and think you solved all the problems.

Normally I'll jump in this like Captain save a Stipe but you know what will pass on it this time, them dress pictures, them asking for boxing match and future meeting with my boy Cain all got me on stand by, will observe but won't take part.. but it's hard so many shitting on him who the fook sides with Dana in the first place. (ah stop it).

Yo at @Final Say step your game up you getting creamed in here.. time to call for a tactical voice of reason with plenty of research @g*r*b .. Stipe fans where the heck are you, the Champ needs you.

' Stipe has a point. Here is a solution. He fights Overeem for all or nothing. 600 and 800 make 1.4 million. UFC can negotiate the 'under the table' deal with Reem if he looses. Stipe makes 1.4 if he wins. '
- Tze

Meanwhile Mighty Mouse wanted to get paid the same as Stipe lol.

And all this is with Stipe on top, with wins after wins going for the HW record can you imagine it when he is on the low.. no respect he gets no respect.

You mean a UFC champion doesn't want to defend his title... He better fight Ngannou if he beats Dos Santos.

UFC's history when it comes to most fighters that are not game changing superstars, is to simply hardline them and if they are not accepting of that hardline they move on. There are countless examples of this. I understand what you are saying but this man is not a big draw. And if he pushes the company he will be employed elsewhere.

This is the Conor effect...

The inflation of Conor means that, EVERY fighter in the UFC wants a high payday. Its what you get when you show favoritism.

He's already got more title defenses than either of them

If pay was based on ranking then I guess he would have a point but its not. Its based on a multi-fight contract. If you agree to the terms then go on a run and become champ you have to wait it out. You can negotiate higher pay when your contract is up.

Now that his stock is high he wants to renegotiate. That's not how it works. That's one of the benefits of having a contract for UFC. If he loses before his contract is up he gets screwed.

Its the nature of the business.

Yea i guess but the UFC needs to be smart enough to not give in and pay him what he's worth.

Not what people who do not look at all of the numbers think he should have.

He should negotiate with them like a man.

Instead of bitching about it on twitter

Scott Coker is somewhere in some office holding his belly in laughter telling his secretary " can you please get MIocic s contract info"

The guy is from Ohio, has stopped 5 heavyweights in a row including 2 title defenses. In most fight circles being UFC heavyweight champion makes you the baddest man on the planet.

LMFAO, put some fucking promotion dollars behind this guy...
...oh shit, my bad ---gotta get behind that Markos-Grasso female strawweight co-main coming up in Mexico.

He fights fires in his spare time.....bugger that. The more I remember about Stipe, the more useless he becomes.

Why doesn't the UFC just get done with it and change its name to MFF (mcgregor fight federation) .

shameful ..SHAME SHAME

They make more because they have been doing this for so long, and they have bigger names than him.

Partly true.

Fundamentally, they make more because more people want to see them. This gives them more leverage in negotiating contracts.

He signed a contract. The UFC does not have an obligation to renegotiate it. Stipe should complete the contract and then he will have tremendous bargaining power. Until then he becomes an annoyance to the UFC because he is not a big PPV draw. Stipe, like many UFC fighters, lack keen business sense.
