They make more because they have been doing this for so long, and they have bigger names than him.mods - please merge with the other thread of the same topic ! dammit.
"It definitely should change," Miocic said. "But the fact that [Overeem and JDS) made more money than me in my last fight was just kind of a slap in the face.
"[It's] terrible. Things definitely need to be changed. Something's gotta change. It's not really fair."
Miocic's typically quiet and workman-like demeanor hasn't done much for his brand as a marketer. He did, however, go public in June upon the announcement of the August pay-per-view boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor by pleading for a spot on the undercard against unbeaten boxing champion Anthony Joshua of England.

Look, I like Stipe but he's not a draw for whatever reason. JDS and Overeem are bigger names and that's why they made more. I don't like the idea of a fighter holding out until he gets money he isn't deserving of due to popularity reasons. Don't get me wrong, I understand where's he coming from, but people were watching to see Overeem and JDS more than him.
Bingo. The UFC is primarily concerned with self-branding and is awful at promoting fighters. They generally only promote fighters who either: (1) act like cartoon characters; or (2) have what they deem "all american" looks and appeal. It creates a self-fulfilling prophecy where the company fails to promote a fighter, the fighter draws poor numbers, then the company refuses to market them because they're not marketable. The UFC is horrible at promoting fighters. Unless they can shit talk. The UFC is just useless.
Dude from Ohio, who happens to moonlight as a Paramedic/firefighter. And he's knocking out the biggest names in the sport, in the FIRST fuckin round. One win away from a UFC record.
If you can't sell that. You're not very good at your fuckin job.

Every month we hear about rising fighters complain about their contracts. But he does have a contract. And if he is refusing to honor the contract the UFC can easily strip him and Move on. And they would not really be wrong in doing so. If they are offering him several fights and he keeps saying no, The ball is in his court. The UFC is doing what they are required to do on their end.
Every month we hear about rising fighters complain about their contracts.
Clearly there is more to this issue than "he signed the contract" because fighters continue to fight and the complaining goes away. There's two likely outcomes:
1) Their managers tell the fighters "you signed the contract" and they suck it up and continue to be unhappy.
2) UFC works with fighters to keep them happy and both sides compromise.
There's literally no reason, in 2017, to come into these topics and simply say "he signed the contract" and think you solved all the problems.
he needs to realize he doesn't have an over the top WWE personality and he doesn't have a huge record. JDS and Overeem got paid more because they've been putting in the work. they were at the top of MMA when nobody even knew who Stipe was.
if he really thinks he's the best, he should wait. give it some time, fill up on title defenses and he'll be undeniable. people are gonna say, "but look at Mighty Mouse" but that's different. Stipe is the HW champion and he finishes people. give it some time Stipe, the people will come around.
Yea i guess but the UFC needs to be smart enough to not give in and pay him what he's worth.
Not what people who do not look at all of the numbers think he should have.
