They weren't in orbit, so the planets planets gravity still could effect them. Or the ships. Either that or it made no sense hehe, in the past movies I believe the bombs shot out.I don't know. Also,
Why did the bombs "drop" in space?
Thats true
Even Empire had a steep fall off compared to New Hope
New Hope - 460 mil domestic
Empire - 290 mil domestic
Return - 309 mil domestic
Unfortunately, these were another one of Rian Johnson's jokes to himself at the expense of the audience. They're his metaphor for longtime or hardcore Star Wars fans that go to conventions and stuff. The Jedi Caretakers have "protected the Jedi ways since they were created" and like the hardcore fans, the caretakers whine and bitch and scurry about when someone pokes a hole in a building on the island or changes something.
They're ugly little frog nun things (nuns=virgins) and it's no accident that Rey doesn't apologize when she knocks down an ancient statue and it rolls down and smashes the caretakers' (fans') wheelbarrow full of dumb old Jedi shit.
The double punch line is that these fans will go out and buy figurines of these creatures made to mock them. Gotcha!
In writing this film, Rian Johnson paid great attention to some of his goals, and some of them he half-assed, hence achieving some goals with near perfection and simultaneously having questionable plot points and dumb jokes, etc. It came down to priorities, and they perhaps weren't all compatible in one film.
Also, logically, Luke Skywalker brought Darth Vader back from the dark side, why would he logically try to kill Kylo over a fleeting idea that he might be evil??? This is his sister and best friend's son ... It doesn't make any logical sense.
I really wish I could see what Lucas's vision would be. I'd like to see more George Lucas Star Wars movies, but the problem seemed to be that Lucas wasn't especially interested in making more Star Wars movies. Disney at least seems very interested in continuing to tell the SW story, to the tune of what's probably going to be one to two movies per year (counting spin-offs) for the foreseeable future.
I have no idea if Lucas giving up control is a good thing or a bad thing. And I guess now we never will know and I find that kind of regrettable.
And LOL @ the Gungans. It's worth noting that they barely appear in AOTC and ROTS. Even Jar Jar basically just has cameo appearances in those films.
fucking LOL, you know a part of me thought something was a big shot at the fans here, and you just clued me in
there is a reason why some of the stuff in this film is written and sounds really calculated and precise,
but then everything else from poe to finn to everything else feels supppper ham-fisted and rushed.
almost as if Rian had his agenda to tear down the previous film and peoples expectations for this series while simultaneously telling them to fucking deal with it.... and then he had to write a film around him telling nerds to suck it up and just kinda half assed it with really cringe dialogue about hope and love or whatever.
lmao never even thought of this.
"I turned the most evil man in the fucking galaxy on his master by exposing his love for his children"
"Snokes in Kylos head! wellp! NO HOPE HERE KIDS!"
I still am in disbelief that people want George's "vision" of the Star Wars movies.... lke I'm sorry....did you people not SEE the clusterfucks of pacing/tone/story that were the prequels? they were fucking dogshit. and worse with the faked/forced nostalgia than anything Disney is doing right now.
I think Disney will see a massive drop in returns on investment fairly quick.
nobody wants to see Rebels vs. Empire anymore...its fucking tired
Driver seems to be getting broad praise, even among many of the film's detractors. I've seen a bunch in here saying they think Kylo Ren is one of the best aspects of the new trilogy. Hard to argue. Driver was damn good in this last one.
I mean, just look at the scenes. Why have that storyline in there in the first place? They could have easily have had Luke confront Ren whilst he was training or whilst he was chilling somewhere, meditating/playing with friends or something.
Instead, Luke confronts Ren whilst he was sleeping in his bed. He sneaks into his room and pulls out his sword (a common metaphor for a penis).
Look at Ren's reaction to when he sees Luke on the battlefield, he completely reacts and wants all of the AT-ATs to kill him. This wasn't some kind of "oh it was a misunderstanding", type of deal.
Look at when Rey was confronting Luke about "what he did". Why would she over-react like that, if it was just a simple misunderstanding?
It's subliminal, but it's there.

Yeah, that was weird. Must be on that Chris Evans diet.
The only prequel film I just flat don't like is Phantom Menace, and even that one has one of the best scenes in any SW film, the battle with Darth Maul.
I think Attack of the Clones, while imperfect, is a fun movie. And I think that Revenge of the Sith is the best Star Wars film in the entire franchise.
The prequels get too much hate, but thankfully, the tide seems to be turning on them. I'm starting to see/read/hear more positivity regarding those films.
I'm about the same, except I would say ROGUE ONE is more successful but it's got a much easier job. So it's number two on this hit parade.I thought this was the best Star Wars films since the originals.
Good news everybody. Box Office is chugging along. As of today, it is the fastest earner outside of TFA. Beating previous #2 Jurassic World by several million. Day 13 domestic gross is 445 million, at this point Jurassic was at 437 million. TLJ will hit 500 million+ by Sunday/Monday at the latest, and 1 billion global will be in the bag by Saturday/Sunday.
Will be # 1 movie of 2017 on Monday as well.
