STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

If you have seen STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, how would you rate it?

Too be fair that just means 52% of users gave the movie at least a 6/10

And it turns out the user average is 6.4 as a whole

Well, that's still positive. If I turn in a rating of a six on a film, that means I liked it more than I didn't like it and that it's still a mild recommend.

In any case, the thing is, the ONLY thing haters have to hold onto is the RT audience. It's the last vestige of hope.

They don't have the critics score. They don't have the IMBD score. They don't have the CinemaScore.

shadow thats a big drop for a movie that came out 10 days ago

Drop from what? It's been in the 50s pretty much from the beginning, with at least two groups claiming that they've manipulated the score with bots. (Whether or not that's true, I don't know. But there's nobody even trying to claim they've manipulated the score to make it more positive.)

Youre starting to take offense to possibly having poor taste like Coolb.

A 6 is mighty low. Hell, i gave it a 6.
For a star wars movie, a 6 is a failure.

Plus, if youve seen one movie poll, youve seen em all. A shit load of people have rated movies a 6 and said it sucked. I look at 6 being 1 cunt hair above average.

Again, its not thw worsr movie ive seen. Not even in the running. But it is the lousiest star wars move, bar none.

This will get worse. For no other reason than this movie being forgettable.

Well even with that said, again, a six is the LOWEST score that can be given for a review to be considered positive. That doesn't mean that every positive review is a 6.

All we have to do is go back to the breakdown on the IMDB score to see that most users on that site rated it somewhere between a 7 and a 10.

Hey @TrueBias, since you're having a hard time wrapping your head around people liking the movie, let's get an outside source to chime in. I sometimes listen to a movie podcast called the /Filmcast (Slashfilmcast).

Here's what one of the hosts, Jeff Cannata, had to say:

It is the best Star Wars film. Period. I think it is the best Star Wars film ever made. I think it is everything that I would want and more out of a Star Wars movie. . . .

Listen, I love Star Wars. I LOVE Star Wars. I live it, breathe it, my one-year-old son's room is Star Wars. I have love for these movies, but I think if I try to dispassionately look at even my love for the original trilogy, this movie outpaces them on every level. There are these incredible filmic moments that I think is something that a great director brings to this franchise.

And:

I was so energized. I was jumping up and down in my seat. Peter, I totally understand what you mean about leaving the theater hyperventilating and shaking, I mean, I was crying throughout most of the movie. I was crying because of Carrie Fischer but also because of how good it was and just how much it spoke to that little kid in me that dreamed about all this stuff. . . . Overall this movie has so much in it, and so much of it is excellent, that I think it far outstrips previous Star Wars movies, for me.

I don't know. If he uses the word "filmic" AND was crying throughout most of the movie, it's a little hard to take him seriously.

Apparently Kevin Smith, James Rolfe, and Mike Matei also liked it.

Then you got Red Letter Media whom doesnt bash it, but damn..do they?

These are the guys who got well known from their very in depth review of Phantom Menace.

Let me ask you this, serious question, why exactly is it hard for you to believe that a lot of people really like the movie?

I mean, you didn't like it that much, which is fine. But is it so hard to believe that other people ended up falling elsewhere on the spectrum?

as long as its better than TLJ and will likely be more than a 20 point difference when this silly run is over.

Simplest answer: to figure out if i had it all wrong.

I personally fell the movie fell flat and gave it a 6.
Yes, it had some good moments and some good acting, but it also had some atrocious storytelling, script, cast/acting and whatnot.
If you remove the whole casino side story from the script, fat Asian crush and the babushka empowerment from the film, it could've been better.
The casino side story I'm sure even the director and producers regret, but they were too far into it and already had spent so much, they decided not to can it.
Oscar Isaac and Del Toro were wasted completely.

Just to those people who are saying the film is amazing, great or even good... Take a look at The Lord of the Rings trilogy. That's what the Star Wars franchise should be aspiring to: turning into classics and sweeping the Academy Awards.
They'll get the MTV movie award and the LGBT awards instead.

you can tell some people have the mindset, "D's and C's get degrees". 60-70% for a star wars film is bad, there's no denying that. the film doesn't live up to its hype, you're a blind fanboy if you deny that. fans are clearly underwhelmed by the movie, sorry some people can't accept this.

I just don't get why you're so skeptical. Is the Sherdog poll also manipulated? Did the CinemaScore people cook the books?

It seems obvious to me what's going on:

There are people out there who didn't like the movie and they're being loud as hell. But there are more people who DID like it. But a lot of the people who did like it don't feel the need to fight about it. They went to the movies, enjoyed it, and now they're moving on

Like I said earlier, they're the silent majority. And then we have a very loud minority banging on pans and trying to get attention.

I just don't get why it's so inconceivable to you that more people than not might not see it your way on this one.

BTW, I'll also point out that even a 52% RT score indicates that still MORE THAN HALF of audience responders turned in a positive review.
Yeah im sure Disney is happy about half the audience not really digging the film. lol get a fucking break dumby.

I certainly don't think this applies to all of the people giving positive reviews, but Johnson has really pulled a fast one by tricking a lot of hardcore fans into applauding the deliberate tarnishing of what made them fans. This whole thing is just so weird.

I actually think writers and filmmakers like James Cameron, Sylvester Stallone, etc., who have built beloved characters or universes, have some good reasons to be worried for what they've built if The Last Jedi continues to get strong reviews for what the film set out to do and did.
