If you have seen STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, how would you rate it?

It was better than TFA, which was so derivative it was A New Hope version 1.2.

At least this had some personality of its own.

Its not going to be difficult.

They'e developed plenty of new characters at this point. Kylo will go down, the rebellion will win, and it will be awesome. You will still find reasons to be upset

If you'e reading this, and haven't seen Bright on Netflix go watch that shit. Just finished it and damn I'm impressed

Well, to be honest, I have a different set of criticisms about Bright.

It's filmmaking. It's not the feel good participation ribbon club. I think Bright had some virtues.
What movies have you enjoyed recently?

I haven't seen a movie as good as the Last Jedi... maybe ever in theaters. Bright was amazing and had me in a great mood the entire time.

I dunno man, maybe you enjoyed the Revenant, or Birdman. If you did great. I did not. I really, really loved this new star wars film and it breaks my heart to see so many people not only disliking it... but acting like total fucktards about it. It was original, fresh, unpredictable. I was blown away

same with bright.

Yet gurdians 2 has higher ratings than these films. Like what in the fuck

AND all the Last Jedi haters praise Rouge fucking 1. Terrible movie.
I just don't get it

Pretty average film, but I'm a bit more critical because it carries the Star Wars name.

4/10.

The characters are still bland and unappealing with the exemption of Kylo Ren and Luke, who is utilized in the most absurd and cheesy way possible. The CGI is good and all, but its getting to the point where it just feels uninteresting and milquetoast when every single big budget film so heavily relies on the same concepts. The story was a bit more hashed out than the last film, but compared to the other films still felt like reheated leftovers. Ultimately there are some good bits, but in between those impressive scenes are loads of filler and cringe worthy nonsense.

And fuck the Porgs.

Well, I did like both of those films quite a bit. Arrival, Hell or High Water, Sing Street, The Big Short, Son of Saul, Blade Runner 2049, It.

I like those movies too. They're all pretty good.

Bright and the Last Jedi really hit home with me though. Those films I will remember, the others I will not

"For those of us who were willing to let the movie take us wherever it wanted to go it was a highly enjoyable experience. You can accept that this is possible without being a fan of shit like Transformers, or not."

This is key... I went with my son and his friends. I cleared my mind of all expectations and watched the film with the desire to be entertained. We had fun and enjoyed some star wars porn. More of you should try it.

Lol so, your advice is to turn your brain off and then you can enjoy things?
If I didn't think, and if I just let every movie "take me wherever it wanted to go" then there would be no such thing as a bad movie. This movie was not terrible. If i don't think about it as a SW movie, and I don't think of it as a sequel, then it's a decent movie. But the moment I turn my brain on it becomes shit.
No one goes to a SW movie wanting to hate it. I WANTED to be entertained. It was just incredibly too stupid of a movie for me to enjoy.

*THE CENTRAL DILEMMA WAS THEIR FLEET WAS RUNNING OUT OF GAS! FFS. that was the best story they could come up with?
*Wasted a half hour on the useless casino plot
*There is no one to care about in these movies, am i supposed to care about Rose? Finn? Asshole Pink hair lady? Mutant steroid horses? Feel sorry for Ren? Care about old, asshole Luke who spent the whole movie being an old asshole?
*The bad guys are completely worthless. General Hux is incompetent, and he is just a ridiculous character. Captain Phasma is a Bond villain that had like 3 lines of dialogue before getting killed AGAIN by a plumber. Snoke gets taken out with no info about him. Kylo got his ass kicked by Rey already, and Rey had to SAVE him in this movie. Why does anyone fear these bitches?
*All of the shit set up in TFA gets no answers, and then this movie doesn't give you anything to look forward to in the 3rd movie

Those are just a few of the larger problems.
I can't understand how people don't see these as issues.

I didn't like Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and I wasn't particularly impressed by Rogue One. I do think Rogue One was an honest effort though, just one that didn't land perfectly.

I enjoyed it quite a bit and have it as my #2 film of the year.

To be fair, I have cooled on it just slightly, but that just means I dropped my score from an 8.5 to an 8.

Why do you think it doesn't work as a Star Wars movie?
No doubt it was beautifully shot. It has the best visuals of any SW movie. But the mischaracterization of Luke is unforgivable. He’s a different person altogether. And how is Rey so powerful with virtually no training? Force users have always required training. Always. Johnson seems to lack a fundamental understanding of the universe. It also seems like no one actually wrote a whole story and now they are making it up as they go. Are the individual directors writing these things? That’s an actual question.

I think it's worse. I think he does understand the universe and set out to deliberately mock it and cut its legs out from underneath it.

Out of curiosity, did you see Blade Runner 2049, and if so, what did you think about it?

Agreed on this. I feel a bit bad for Rian Johnson, with the way some people want to shit on him instead of giving him credit for creating a great piece of cinema.

Thankfully, as has already been shown, MOST reactions to the film are actually positive. It's just that loud-as-hell minority who are trying to spoil the party.

And to be clear, I'm not saying no one should have criticisms about the film. But there's a difference between having criticisms and being a dick.

Dude, if that’s true that’s just spiteful and mean spirited.
