I heard about it from a distance, but I knew I was going to see TFA late and didn't want ANYTHING spoiled.

After seeing the film I caught him in an interview where he's pretty much saying he hates it but it's for a new generation.

I bet any sum of money that if they had just continued his story, they would have made a far better film than anything else we've seen since Return.

Luke chucking the light saber over his shoulder for a cheap giggle for the audience was ridiculous.

I don't care about any of the new characters, in the fight scenes, if Finn, Rey died, I wouldn't give a shit. I have no to little investment in them.

Finn, had potential, a stormtrooper come good, but his character is clownish and too socially acclimated for someone with his background.

Rey is just too flawless, no room for growth. What can anyone teach her?? Who is she going to defeat in the final film?? Kylo Ren??? She has already kicked his butt.

This its like Cain Velasquez vs Cigano or any stupid match up! They totally botch starwars when they released Ep7. but But Ep8 is worst!

And the Ugly asiatic women really annoyed the shit out of me. This is worst than the Phantom Menace.

I don't think its an agenda, StarWars always have female leaders, Mon Motman, Princes Leia, Padme Amidalla.

Strong female leads is perfectly fine. All I care about is good writing. Though, it's possible they DO have an agenda. Battlefront 2's canon story has a female lead. Rogue One, TFA, and TLJ all have female leads.

I had seen that tweet; FYI, Poe was a traitor and a mutineer.

And HOLY SHIT were there a metric fuckton of complaints about Rey in the first movie.

Look, I have said repeatedly that I didn't care for TLJ. There are a lot of things that were just bad. The characters weren't bad because of a feminist agenda, they were just bad.

The uber complaints about SJW- Feminism is already getting retarded, I think its kinda a good cheap shot by Rian Johnson and really trolled those whiners on social media big time because he knows they will complain, I have seen a lot of those people complaining about Feminism even before TLJ, its like they always see Feminism on everything and things the World will fucking end, better just ignore those comments hard to take people seriously who thinks women should not vote.

Was not a terrible movie. The beginning sucked and the side quest was stupid, but the last half of the main arc was good.

Wish we had more Badass Luke and less Get off My Lawn Luke

Star Wars has been infamous for decades for having virtually no female characters.

When TFA was released, there wasn't even an action figure for Rey.

Yes, the characters were bad and the story was mediocre. There was virtually nothing they did right.

Maybe you could just say that instead of just blaming the feminist agenda.
Star Wars started in the 70s. There weren't a lot of women in any sort of action role back then.
The lack of women and minorities in roles is always looked at as some sort of nefarious plot, as if it was intentional in all cases. There weren't a lot of female writers or directors or producers back then. The men that were writing the stories were writing from their experiences and dreams, it wasn't intentionally trying to leave women out.

When you have a photo of the writers and producers of the movie wear shirts that say "the force is female", and then the director of the same film say he wants a shirt that says "talk to me about my film feminist agenda", how are you going to say that there was no agenda?
I think agenda is honestly too strong of a word. I don't think the movie's focal point, or mission was to make this a feminist movie. The feminism wasn't even my biggest issue. There was a lot of bad in this movie that had nothing to do with feminism.
But part of what contributed to the bad story and bad characters was that in the process of trying to create strong, female characters, they gave these characters no depth, and seemed to go out of their way to show that you don't have to look like the stereotypical beautiful whatever to get a job done.
There is no way that killing the hot sister and leaving chubby Rose was by accident. Why give Holdo pink hair? Even her dialogue towards Poe...she calls him "fly boy", and is just dressing him down. All of the men in this film were portrayed as borderline retarded, emotional, and inept.

Yes, they were all bad characters. But a PART of why they were bad was because of the mandate to show strong females...but not give those females any chance to actually show the audience why they're strong and capable. They are strong purely because they are female.

I don't live in the states, so didn't see action figures. But did Finn and Poe get figures?
And i would also imagine that a reason why there weren't many Rey figures is because boys are the ones that usually play with them, and they mostly won't want a girl figure

They had a talk with him

Disney doesn't fuck around.

Scene:

Mark Hamill hears a knock at the door.

Goes to answer it...

"So, Mark... have ya seen the new Star Wars movie?"

Well, I'm just going off the cuff here, but...

Every decision by a female military leader results in no loss of life, aside from the heroic self-sacrifice of the military leader herself. Leia's plan involved no rebel losses, Poe fucked it up and got everyone killed. Holdo's plan involved no rebel losses, Poe fucked it up and got everyone killed.

I mean, Holdo probably did kill people off-screen when she did her light speed thing, but her original plan seemed to be to passively pilot the ship like Gandhi until she got blown up. She only had to engage in actual offensive action because Poe and Del Toro screwed things up.

Rey gets the better of Luke in a standoff, and Luke is pathetically inferior to her, not only in that physical standoff but morally. The film really went to great lengths to tear down...arguably the greatest male hero of the 1970s and 1980s, in order to supplant him with his new female counterpart.

Merely giving Admiral Holdo purple hair is the deliberate insertion of a modern-day SJW archetype and making her correct over archaic toxic masculinity Poe.

As I mentioned, all loss of life through military campaigns is the direct result only of decisions by male military leaders. I honestly think Kathleen Kennedy's endgame might be to demonstrate that with women in charge, there wouldn't be any wars. She's at least taken a step in that direction by having one side of the conflict run exclusively by women and causing zero casualties (unless forced at the last second by males undermining their casualty-free plan).

Finn thinks Space Vegas is the greatest thing ever. Who knows what's really going on? Rose.

Maybe I'm forgetting stuff.

Also probably one of the biggest, women > men scene from the film.

A scene devoted to showing Luke milking a space alien cow thing (no doubt a female species) and then drinking it in front of Rey who looks grossed out...further emasculating Luke as a hero and a leader to prop up Rey as the saviour of the galaxy/jedi in this film/future films

I would kind of argue though that Holdo's secretiveness in the beginning is what CAUSES Poe to concoct his space casino plan with Finn and Rose... and thus in turn Holdo IS the cause of death for like 95% of the remaining rebel resistance...

however the film DOES make a point to try and make it seem like its Poe's fault for "not following orders from our leadership (aka our female leader)"

Rey is just too flawless, no room for growth. What can anyone teach her?? Who is she going to defeat in the final film?? Kylo Ren??? She has already kicked his butt.

it was pretty fucking hilarious watching the two of them BARELY defeat a bunch of redshirts with superior weapons and fucking force abilities.

Rey being unable to beat a few guards...sure....

but Kylo used the force to implode and escape a stone cabin he was sleeping in, but he legit cant use the force to cut down a bunch of nobodies like butter?

at least the movie is making a point that both Kylo and Ren are complete nobodies and fucking awful jedi

We probably would have done it anyway, because nothing's ever good enough, but I think one of the major changes to the mythos hinges on Finn: that being the humanization of the enemy. In stories like this, as soon as any character is humanized they become a hero. The problem with Finn is now we're conspicuously aware every single stormtrooper now has some sort of identity and/or backstory, or more accurately the potential for such. This impedes storytelling hugely.

LOL guy on the right ragdolls himself in to the wall

guy on the left gingerly backs up into it, then takes as many steps as possible to make sure he lands gingerly on the carpet
