Star Wars Megathread

Guilty as charged......

Reddit moderators are paid shills.

Or rather, they're of a political philosophy and believe those who criticize Disney Star Wars are of the opposite political philosophy.

I wouldn't be shocked in the least if a chunk of those mods were LF employees. That subreddit always felt like one of the more astroturfed communities on Reddit.

And I'm not shocked that artist got banned from there. Outside of Jon and Dave's work LF is constantly being upstaged by the SW community.

The 2009 Star Trek movie was on tonight, and it's sad that the Kelvin time line ST trilogy was better than the SW sequel trilogy.

A reboot with fresh faces and some continuity changes, but the right amount of fan service and respect for Spock as a character.

They did you dirty Mark.

As a kid there was no greater weapon than the ninja star; they came from The Shadows™ -- except for the mythical boomerang that always returns, a concept from which most of Marvel's throwing weapons come (Thor's hammer, Cap's shield, DD's batons).

Ninja star + Boomerang:

Laser + sword = 2nd Place

Third is flamethrower. You're fired.

As a kid there would’ve been nothing better than having ninja stars. They were a cool weapon to even draw.

All the shirtless Jedi look ridiculous.

Can't quite say I disagree. I'd have those characters redesign, Stellan Gios & Loden Greatstorm, cover up a bit.

But Yoda, with abs? Fuck yes.
That is so awesomely ridiculous no one can possibly not be on board with it.
Its begs the question... If Yoda is 900 years old in Ep6 ROTJ, and only 30-something years before his death he was jumping while fighting Dooku and Sideous like a midget of crack, what was he like when he was in his PRIME?

That hasn't been explored, and it absolutely should be.

I watched Krull so much as a kid, just loved it. The theme was money!

If the 80's had one great thing going for it, it was epic/distinct scores for films/tv shows. It's a lost art mostly!

The High Republic looks awful mostly, like San Francisco in a Galaxy far far away. I'll take Yoda with abs over the hot garbage any day

I didn't like the look/animation of the Clone Wars, especially Rebels, but I can look past that because they tried to tell good stories while respecting the franchise/canon. I have no faith in the KK weirdos

If I were you I wouldn't engage in the representation discussion at all, if labels are going to bother you. Logic results in too many discrepancies the mind cannot take. And if you get caught up with each event and try to weigh it to each other, it's like when people say all STAR WARS fans are the same when we clearly are not. False comparisons and dichotomies arise.

The truth is we forget entertainment media is a product of privilege and therefore made by people in kind. In the beginning creation was autonomous but as culture derived itself from these artifacts of entertainment the necessity of marshaling and safeguarding cultural representation was democratized. Autonomy was given over to the principle of commodification. Fighting against progress will only position you on the wrong side of it. And because representation in media is still not equivalent to real social dynamic, you're punching yourself out for a cause that doesn't exist. For a consumerist facade.

I would encourage you to spare yourself the grief of this spat.

Lmao, or people could focus on telling good stories.

They don't seek to build and create. Instead their goals are to tear down and destroy. It is pathetic.
