Star Wars Megathread

Nice and quiet in here. That Gina thread is crazy, people attacking and name calling. Won’t be surprised if yellows are dished out

Let’s keep that separate from this chat please. We have a nice vibe going on here lately

Disney won’t fold, but if people follow through as I did with cancellations, they will take notice at the shit show Kennedy is running. They need this streaming service at maximum profit. Keep giving fans a reason to drop D+, and find other means to watch.

Funny how an actress that played probably one of the most hated characters for a single movie gets a birthday shout out ( Laura Dern ), but they ignored James Earl Jones and Carl Weathers. Lucasfilm is a hypocritical den of vipers.

Thankfully I’ve been happily revisiting all the Star Trek movies.

Arguably this could be the Enterprise as well...

I think the interesting thing with the original films is that you actually see very little fighting between force users were both are going 100% trying to kill the other.

A very strong part of it all is intuition.. & foresight. It shouldn't be made light of if 2 force users show up face to face & both know exactly who has the advantage... & to what degree....

...the fight has already been played out & determined.

The story is written that this is done in their imaginationz in this movie & it's understood by both particiapants how this would play out due to them not physically duelling, but mentally duelling without moving a single physcial limb.

Spoiler... I'm teh guitar player.

I'm just saying that I like this example of how force users don't need to actually fight. They're fooking pxychic ffs.... but also in Obi'z case, he saw the inevitable, & had been working on teh fooking afterlife version of himself that Qui-gon showed him & so he accepted his transitions into that role & saw that he'd be stronger in the etheric.

Obi Wan is arguably stalling against Vader knowing his destiny is to die close to Luke and "latch" on to him and Vader in ESB and ROTJ is arguebly more testing/goading Luke than he is trying to kill him plus Luke himself in ROTJ isnt trying to kill Vader until he breaks briefly at the end then he isnt really fighting the Emperor looking more to get Vader to help.

Luke snapped... & that's his trigger.

"You say you're going to fook with my sister"
SNAP

That's the first of 2 timez we've seen that happen on screen.

I recently watched the movie Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The previous film, The Last Jedi, left a deeply positive impression on me. "Skywalker: Rise", unfortunately, turned out not so cool, but rather the opposite ... The film cannot boast of audience versatility, that is, it is focused purely on fans who remember in detail what happened in the previous parts.

Before, Star Wars was better - that's a fact. It seems that Disney is saving on everything - on actors, special effects, screenwriters and so on. If earlier SW set a trend in science fiction, now they are trailing behind. I state with regret that the new Star Wars is the minimum of a fantastic adventure and the maximum of a cheap melodrama.
Account initiated yesterday... WELCOME!!!!! & congrats for entering our convo straight off. I look forward to your commentary... & please do not let the resistance get you down.

You said: "TLJ left a deeply positive impression on me"
Hell yeah bro... there are many of us that share your pov. You are in the majority despite what may would say otherwise, Call me in any time.

Sick "Hero" parallel.

You really won't give up on that will you. <45>

Again I think you see during the confrontation Vader and the Emperor are wearing on Luke, its not just that he's fine thoughout it and then suddenly snaps. You see the scene were he's in the dark under the platform he's struggling before Vader even mentions Leia.

I think your pov is... "<45>"
...and I think it's disrespectful to mock me like that.

You obviously see that it was when Vader talked about putting his sister in danger (in ep. 6 in the emperor's chamber...) that Luke SNAPPED... yet you continue to tell me I'm wrong about that. That's called a "paradox." Your alternate agenda in creating that paradox is because you hate The Last Jedi & you don't want to admit that Luke just snapped in the moment when he saw his loved ones dying & being in pain due to Kylo's actions.

You reduced that scene down to "Luke wanting to kill Kylo because of a feeling he had." That's when I quoted you for the first time & said you were exaggerating. I showed you proof from the movie that it had been an ongoing thing & that it was in fact much more than a feeling he got in the moment. Now you're just sticking to those guns & trying to mock me about something that's clearly in the movie.

Odd that you deny it since his dialog during that scene says that he was triggered & snapped in that moment. You can even hear Luke's loved ones screaming in the background due to the pain Kylo will cause them. So it's strange that you give me that rolling smiley face emoji to mock me for saying something accurate.

....& I'm going to answer your last post to me at some point this weekend. I've been working & away from the computer so I haven't had time.

At a quick glance I have to say that you & me having a conversation isn't working out. After you reduced Luke pulling the saber on Kylo to "a feeling" he had in the moment... I literally have said at least a half dozen times to you "It's all in the movie" that this has been on going prior to this & that it was more than just a feeling. I even dictated the scenes that prove it was more than just a feeling he got that night. In the very post you quoted I said "It's all in the movie." So what was your take away? "So you're saying that I need to read the novel to understand it all?"

[<dunn]

<20>

I don't know how to reason with someone who twists things like that... & it's all just so you won't have to admit that you exaggerated. You exaggerated. Just admit it & let it go.

There's no debate as to whether it spells out exactly in the movie that Luke had seen Kylo going dark prior to that night. There's no debate that he snapped. I dictated in the movie from 2 different scenes that verify that. So you could never make the point that someone has to read the novel in order to understand that. What you're doing now is just shifting away from admitting that you had that a little wrong. It's okay... try saying it. I do it all the time in these threads when I feel like I've mis-represented something. It will be an incredible weight off your shoulders to quit beating this dead horse you insist on continuing.

There's not a single person on earth who hasn't made a mistake. Join the rest of us & quit trying to pretend like you're perfect & never fuck up.

Ugg... the new Vader comic that I've been waiting on finally dropped... & it didn't get to the point I was hoping for.

EXCELLENT story though... just didn't give me what I've been waiting all month for... & I can even see them putting what I'm waiting for off one more month.<Eek2.0>

It's Vader finding out about & then traveling to Exegol for the first time. I'm really hoping for some more background information about cloning Sid, Snoke & also, hoping they indicate how long Sid's been working with them.

At this point all we know is that they've been working with them since some time prior to ep. 6.

I'm speculating that the "Sith Eternal" would make themselves known to whomever the Sith Master is at any given time... & so Sid would've been working with them since before the prequels if that's true.

Since Sid's master Plagueis was super big on immortality, I'd think they've been cooking this thing up on Exegol since way way back before the prequels.

I guess for artists I meant visual but if there’s a sci-fi music scene I’m interested!

Out of those movies, just for me personally, I like Alien 1 and 2. There are good scenes and moments in the rest of them but I don’t like them as whole movies.

I love both Judge Dredd movies. They are both action-comedy at its finest imo. I know the second one is kind of sad and serious but it’s also very darkly comical to me

For Trek, I go all in for all the original movies, even the first one and the one with the giant head at the centre of the galaxy. “What does GOD need with a starship??? You’re not our buddy guy”

I like first contact and generations but the next two piss me off

For directors: If you could pick between Jar Jar Abrams and R. Johnson who do you go with?

For games I have heard of Hearthstone. What’s the story? You ever do Starcraft?
