Star Wars Megathread

Ep. 25where Grevious was force crushed by Shaft... is listed under "Legends" on Wookieepedia.

Here's the canon version of why Grevious has the cough.

Grievous's armor[12] and synthskin gut-sack protected his remaining vital organs,[8] but his organic lungs were irritated by their implants. This gave Grievous a persistent cough[12] for the rest of his life.[3]
Poor Grievous would have been at higher risk for teh Rona.

Jesus Christ. And what’s the official story of how Palpatine ended up captured by Grievous?

A person comes to attack/kill you scenario. Using a firearm or nearby weapon to defend yourself is acceptable usually. Subduing that individual to choke them to death is usually not acceptable.

And to bring it back to Star Wars, tapping into powers like lightning means tapping into the dark side to conjure, a no no for the Jedi. If you want to go deep EU, there is a “Sith lightning” and “force lightning” the latter of which is usable through the light side, but shunned due to its closeness to the dark side power. And as far as force choke, it’s like torture. While a Jedi does. It want to kill, if they have to, they don’t want to prolong it and make the person/creature suffer if they don’t have to.
Excellent reasoning there Brother Drax. It's probably the exact reason the Jedi decided not to practice that. Their religion is literally based around what's best for the whole, & torture certainly would not enter that space.

As far as Jedi, it is easily Luke
Agreed... Even the best of the clone wars generals didn't dispatch of millions of people. I could be wrong if there's something I missed, but that's typically not the way of the Jedi religion that Luke didn't know jack shit about during the OT... but that said... I don't think any of the Jedi council members would've hesitated to do that very thing. The best for the common good is what their religion is based upon & so I think any of them would've pulled that trigger. They certainly fucked up as many as they could at any given time.

According to various sources: A full Death Star 1 held about 1.1 million people. Death Star 2 had about 1.3 million, not including slaves/ construction workers who were actively building it.

As far as Jedi, it is easily Luke BUT Lando and Wedge were the ones who flew inside DS2 and actually blew it up so depending on who got “the kill shot” that actually triggered the explosion, either Lando or Wedge had the highest Star Wars kill count.

if they have to split their tally, then Luke winz. :D

Great evaluation though bro... I'm loving your commentary.

UNLESS you count Alderaan then you can narrow it down to 2 people. Tarkin of the DS crew member, Tenn Graneet(Legends), who actually fired the laser.

If they're puppets working for a puppetier, then they don't get the credit imo. Sid not only built & financed the Death Star, he picked the location & gave the order... that's all sid. Had his subordinate not done it, he would've been killed & someone else would've done it. He might of even "force pushed" teh fooking button.

Sweet info though... I never knew the guy who actually pushed teh button.<Eek2.0>

It's from the novel: Death Star. Had its ups and downs.

I liked the POV from some deck plate level Imperial Navy folks. As an active duty senior enlisted Coastie I could relate to the day to day stuff and I'm pretty sure thats the first time Imperial Navy enlisted types were ever featured (usually it's officers)

That said the novel was a one and done for me.

Well, it was a nice segue into Ep. 3, but since it didn't happen, that also is not the "official story." I liked it too & feel for your loss, but there are far bigger losses such as our darling Mara Jade Skywalker.

So let this be yet another small casualty in the long line of EU moments that have been overwritten since SW's EU began way before disney took over... & not take our discontent out on SW's canon for making it not real, but embrace it for the beautiful "PROMISE" they make us now that anything labelled canon now... can hence forth be guaranteed to remain real. It's what's up.

I've made several super sweet story treatments imo... for different scenarios. No matter how much anyone did or didn't vibe with them... it's not canon, & so it didn't actually happen.

I have love for the EU... but this is a perfect example of why the new canon universe is sooooo fooking awesome!!!!! When you vibe with a story labelled "canon" you can be 100% assured that it will not be purposefully overwritten. (the word "purposefully" is put in there because some ambitious "fan/non-fan" is chopping at the bit right now to show me a minor bit of continuity that might not jive) Point being that the entire EU was always subject to be overwritten. Isn't it fooking wonderful we have a guarantee across all media now?

People who don't participate just won't get it, but man I gotta tell you it's fooking fantastic on this side of the fence. The grass is green. We get new content several timez a month consistently since 2013 & counting... & it's all a part of what you can count on to be real from now on out.
FINALLY

God bless Star Wars Canon.

I think the interesting thing with the original films is that you actually see very little fighting between force users were both are going 100% trying to kill the other.

Obi Wan is arguably stalling against Vader knowing his destiny is to die close to Luke and "latch" on to him and Vader in ESB and ROTJ is arguebly more testing/goading Luke than he is trying to kill him plus Luke himself in ROTJ isnt trying to kill Vader until he breaks briefly at the end then he isnt really fighting the Emperor looking more to get Vader to help.

its an interesting and cool part, but also part of it was budget and not having the action work etc we do now. its why the light saber fights back then were slower and looked more like fencing.

I remember when Yoda pulled out his shit against Dooku i was both amazed and then irritated.

Now i just love watching that little green frog whirl around like a psychopath.

anyway. Republic Commando is getting a port to modern consoles. might give it a whirl, didnt play the OG

Maul and Qui-Gons very quick duel on Tatooine in TPM gets overlooked, but it did a great job showing Mauls intensity and really set up the Duel of the Fates.

Starwars is for the innately, inept pariahs and racist imperialists

Not sure if they’ll write out Cara Dune, or re-cast her
I someone mention Lucy Lawless if recasting

It is the kind of character I think they don't really NEED to include though, not like say Bo Katan who has obviously been set up as a part of Mando's future story.

I thought Gina played her reasonably well as a supporting action role, can't say I was dying to see a series built around her.

Yeah the person who mentioned Lucy was a fanboy of her show. I never watched it tbh

Probably just best to write her out

They'll recast her with someone else that looks similar, but they'll suck at fight scenes.

But the main reason why Gina Carano was loved on the show is because she brought legitimacy to her fight scenes. She was the 'strong female character' Kathleen Kennedy has said she wants related to Star Wars.

A typical actress can't train for a few months in MMA and then show up on set and be convincing.

"Oh but she wasn't good at acting" - her critics have said. Yeah, neither is Michelle Rodriguez or numerous 'tough girl' actresses that cry when they break a nail.

And now a new criteria has been added, they must have the correct opinions about politics... including hating white people and Trump supporters.
