This is correct. I'm actually watching the whole series again for the millionth time because honestly there isn't anything better on TV. DS9 was a fantastic show.

This really is all I've been watching since GoT. Just started S4 with Worf.

Do you guys think this new show will be at all similar to the TNG type of format with different adventures each episode, or is it going to be like a mini-series telling a larger story over each episode?
Probably a little of both. But it seems that every show now needs an overarching plot that spans the entire series or people won't watch it.

I hope this. i want them to explore strange, new worlds. As in, more than one.

I gotta say...my enthusiasm has just gone to zero

...What bullshit. The federation was trying to give Riker a ship of his own for YEARS (at least as early as S3), he just didn't want it because he felt #2 on the flagship of the entire fleet was better than #1 on some lesser vessel.

I understand he wants to talk up the other people working on the show now that he's stepping back, but FFS get your references on point. I haven't been enthusiastic about this new show, and this doesn't make me any more confident. Has clusterfuck written alllllll over it.

Rumors are that CBS had been clashing with Fuller due to his lack of time he was able to commit to the show, and him being unable to contractually get out of his deals with other shows

Fuck nooooo

Fuller stepping down as showrunner, will only be Exec Producer

The good news is the budget: 9m per episode, about what Westworld gets.

So much for Fuller being all about Star Trek. Didn't he say something about not just "being a writer, but a Star Trek writer" or something to that effect? Guess when shit gets hard, Fuller gets going.

Well that's on Fuller then. Shouldn't have been signing these deals if he wanted to do something else.

I can't imagine I'll be excited for another show until it finally takes place in the future, post Nemesis.

Destiny trilogy is the best starting off point for trek lit. Gestures action on the E, and the new Aventine captained by Dax and titian captained by Riker . After that just the normal tng books.

While the D was meant to be a galaxy Explorer and to be yhr capital ship on long range mission, it had to fight alot, , Men while it could take a beating it just east offensive enough.

The E was built to fight the Borg and dominion, and is built to fight. She's longer then the D but smaller in every other way, except weaponry and shields and engines.

I saw these comparisons and thought they were cool.

My favorite ship is the defiant. No fuss, no frills, just a bad ass ship that doesn't fuck around.

I don't know who those people are. Except Riker. I obviously know who he is.

It should also be noted that they will not be the only showrunners but Kurzman will also be one.

I see a JJTrekification of the series in the future

Akiva Goldsman is being brought in as a co-showrunner it seems. He has a ton big movie experience.

Apparently CBS had a meeting with Fuller last week, about the lack of progress and he requested another delay to production. They are happy with his stories and concepts, so he will be kept on EP. His full schedule was my main concern when he was signed. I figured he would drop one or both of his other projects and focus on trek, but I guess he couldn't get released or wasn't happy with CBS.

Other rumors are CBS has been throwing tons of resources at this, especially after the lackluster comic con launch. The licenses holders were not happy with the ship design and lack of info to plan out the merchandising plans. Some of this also falls on Kurtzman, for under estimating the amount of work involved with trek. People give Rick Berman alot of grief, but he did drop a big career and really took the reigns of trek. Need someone with his work ethic to take control of this thing.

Yeah I saw that earlier. Kinda a weird mix. Why multiple admirals, as a Kilingon Captain? Maybe the rumors of a Federation/Klingon co0built ship?
One of the things that made DS9 so great was all of the different characters - Garrack, Martok, Zek, Damar, Weyoun. Hopefully these are peripheral characters who also develop over the course of the series, like in DS9. That really made the show a lot of fun.

I'm all for new characters and species. It would be intresting to have a Klingon captain with a Human female first officer. Though that would certainly change a big part of trek lore. Aparently all the cast is set for the principles except for the female lead. That was part of CBS issues with Fuller, he wouldn't decide on the lead.
