Crime Springfield, Ohio: migrant workers from Haiti exploited

Democrats and big business LOVE migrants (especially illegal immigrants)… strange bedfellows, indeed.

Dems think they’re being humanitarian, but they are useful idiots advocating for a system in which these people are completely exploited by big business.

Uh, I am pretty sure democrats were in favor of making the immigration process more feasible and they put a Bipartisan Border Bill to halt the illegal crossings, I wonder who torpedoed it. There was aid for Israel and Ukraine but Republicans/House are fans of that so that was not the reason that they shut it down.

Also, I dunno about your point about the democrats being super "pro-big business", they historically have always been more cut-throat on regulations and raising tax on big corporations. It explains why Elon has gone balls deep in supporting Trump despite his niche being the "electric car/enviromental" friendly guy.

That being addressed, the illegal immigration problem is something that hurts everyone. The process needs serious revamping. Illegal immigrants are less likely to cause a ruckus due to their status so they get exploited in scenarios as shown in this one out of desperation or fear of punishment.

By this logic you would expect big business to drift away from the democrats, wouldn't you?

And they are, right? A counter factor, though, is that a lot of big businesses rely on highly educated workers, who overwhelmingly lean left. So they have to weigh their tax and regulatory preferences against keeping workers happy, and the fact that the economy generally does better under Democratic leadership.

Feels like a dumb article written by someone who has no experience with migrant workers. This is pretty much par for the course.
I don't know if it's par for the course but some people will treat others like dogs to make a buck. If this is true it seems like a blunder for Trump to use this place to villify migrants.

They were sent there during his Republican administration, both States have Republican Governors, and Republican local officials. It makes a good case to vote Blue where there's more of a push for a livable wage, regulations, and worker rights.

I don't think people realize just how much effort is being made through the media, social and otherwise, to manipulate the common man no matter his ideology. I normally would never vote for Harris, but with a demagogue like Trump that cares more about being rich and famous than not only the common man but the Constitution itself as the alternative, I find it impossible not to vote against him.

And they are, right?
I would say the opposite is happening.

I'm confused on your stance. Are they drifting toward the democrat party or away from it.

Isn’t this the whole point of migrant labour? To exploit them, so that we can drive down wages? Who else will clean our toilets and replace our roofs, and most of all, pick our fruit

And they literally say this is why we need them

Seasonal migrants are different than asylum seekers. They came from a war zone for a better life and possibly wound up being exploited by big business for profit.

Well I appreciated it @koquerelle, way better than most of the drivel shared the moment most Sherdoggers first heard of Springfield, Ohio (ie, last week, when everyone became an expert on Haitian antisocial cuisine  )

The thing that struck me though was that guy profiteering from poor immigrants in his million dollar house... imagine how many people one has to exploit to own a billion dollar house.

We live in a fucked up world where outrageous profiteering has long, long been normalized.

There is no "democrat party." What kind of a hack do you have to be to not even be able to say the name of the other party? Jeez.

In 2016, Trump's flamboyant incompetence and corruption scared off some traditional GOP-leaning blocs that have been drifting back. So, yes, they're drifting that way. But also, considering all factors, you wouldn't predict as strong a GOP lean as you would if you only look at taxes and regs.

They're being exploited?

Yes, because their shit lives in one of the worse countries in the world were so much better. I'm sure they'd all love to go back to that hell hole they came from.
Well that's the exact circumstances people capitalize in order to exploit human beings.
If you want to exploit a girl, you don't go to an upper middle class family that really loves their kids and takes care of them. You go and find somebody who's not being taken care of or watched over and that's who you exploit.

Exploitation typically relies on terrible inhumane circumstances in order to get a hold on people and take advantage of them. And the people that do the exploiting use the exact same excuse you've just given for why that's okay.

I think the basic principle is two wrongs don't make a right.
