Television So PISSED at the Cobra Kai ending!!!!

I thought the ending was fine. Good montage with the OG song from KK1. Only thing I would say was a little weird is how essentially all the supporting cast were treated as extras in the final 5 episodes, forget lines they were barely even shown on screen. Makes sense to bookend it with the people you started the show with though.

So kreese and terry get murked in the second to last episode then in the finale only once does anyone (wolf) ask about terry no other mention of anything kreese or terry in the last episode hmm weird

I still liked the last season and the whole series overall sucks it's over but it needed to end.

It was not bad to watch with the wife and 11 year old and 14 year old.

The 11 year old enjoyed it, the 14 year old thought it was cringe at points, but I think he still enjoyed spending time watching it together
- You should troll your kids, i do with my nephew as my dad did wth me. That's why we have family!

- It's was as good as Mortal Kombat conquest ending and Super-Man and Lois!

But you make fair points about Kreese. Since KK1 he's been associated with failure and generally fucking things up. But I don't think KSY could have begrudged Kreese for offing Turner. That was just the two of them abiding by jungle law, in the same way KSY encouraged his students to prove themselves against each other. He was less bothered with Kwon's death than that he failed and brought shame to his dojo, and Turner was just some can who lost to his own student and then died with some fucking snakes.

I think the last straw with Kreese was picking Kwon to be team captain going into the sekai taikai. Remember Yoon was KSY's chosen star, and dude was a by the book machine who got the job done without being flashy. Dude was the Jon Fitch of Korean Cobra Kai, Ice Man to Kwon's Maverick. But Kreese liked Kwon's spunk and engineered Kwon's clowning of the other students. KSY probably felt Yoon would have better represented Cobra Kai and even threw out the side barb that Kwon's death was on Kreese.

Lol I knew I could get you with that. Edit, stupid new forum won't let me gif.

Yoon was definitely by the books. I wouldn't say Fitch because Fitch was unconventionally boring. But I agree, Yoon was by the text book fighter. More like Rich Franklin. He Followed the lesson but he lacked the killer instinct.

Kreese picking Kwon confirmed that he prioritizes picking assholes. Kreese thought that Kyler was legit and that Kenny is a bum. But Kenny turned out to be better. He also trained harder than Kyler to the point of Kyler telling him to slow down.

Fact of the matter is, Kreese doesn't give people fair chances. Hawk saw that and switched sides.

Also I wish it would have been karates bad boy who opened up second Cobra Kai location and not stink ray.

This way you would have Cobra Kai run by a national and world champs.

Also wasn't sensei Serano supposed to be some legendary master but never appeared?

LOL. Have to disagree because Fitch was a conventional lay n' pray wrestler. Unconventionally boring is Anderson Silva vs. Patrick Cote and Thales Leites.

But yeah, being one himself, Kreese tended to like assholes, with the two main counterexamples being his soft spots for Johnny and Tory, making him almost a sympathetic character. Remember Silver telling Tory to STFU and listen when Kreese stepped in and said she'd earned the right to fight her own fight. But even though he was trying to help, Kreese's meddling ultimately fucked over Johnny, Tory and Kwon. Probably not the guy you want in your corner. Shit maybe you're right and KSY [correctly] wanted to off this bungling oaf.

I don't think Master Serrano was real. That was just some made up name Dennis used to trick Daniel into coming and getting his ass kicked and kidnapped.

Legit lold at bold part.

Also I forgot about lay and pray. I think it became extinct due to getting cut and not signed by the ufc.

I find both Tory and Johnny to be assholes. Or at least used to be. But yes Kreese was a massive POS. He never apologized to Daniel or acknowledged how he treated Terry like shit. I thought that the end would be Kreese and Silver fighting and in middle of the fight, they remember their times sparring which would trigger happier times.

They would smile as the fight would turn in to a friendly sparring and the scene would END right there.

Sensei Serrano was real because sensei Kim referred to him as a legendary champion and Gunther confirmed that he showed up to all the sekai taikai event until the last few years. Neither Gunther or Kim were in on the conspiracy of kidnapping Danny boy.

You're right, Gunther and Kim referred to Serrano as well. Shit, maybe they're saving that mystery for the KK movie with Jackie Chan. Also as @Fedorgasm mentioned above, they never explained who or why Miyagi killed his opponent in the Sekai Taikai. Daniel's mom explains that Miyagi tracked down and beat up the guard who stole his wife's necklace, but that doesn't explain WTF Miyagi was doing at the Sekai Taikai, nor why he killed his opponent. They're probably trying to keep people guessing, and in the movie it'll be revealed that Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) is the great great grandson of the Chinese dude who taught kung fu to Miyagi's great great grandfather. Also Miyagi wanted to fight his ass because David Carradine was stealing everything he worked for, and when he finally killed him at the sekai taikai, Miyagi wasn't surprised MFers.

I've been thinking about Miyagi killing that dude and I've decided that they don't need to explain it further.

Miyagi lost his wife and child in a very unfair way, so I could see him being angry at the world and just wanting to fight.

So not only does he sign up for the Sekai Taikai, but he fights ruthlessly. Remember how he was in Daniel's dream? All business. Cold blooded.

And that may seem very un-miyagi-like, but remember the wise old person wasn't born that way. They gained that wisdom over a long life.

So this is a young immature miyagi that has suffered an incredible loss and doesn't know how to process his pain in a healthy way.

And killing his opponent could have been the wake-up call he needed to snap out of it. He quits fighting altogether, and although he's in pain still, he decides that inflicting pain and death upon others isn't the answer. And that winning glory in a tournament wasn't worth it.

This is why miyagi hates tournaments and refused to train Daniel in the third movie. And it Also explains why he chose to honk kreese's nose rather than deal a final blow. He knows what it feels like to deliver that final blow, and he never wants to feel that again.

What you just Said made me realize something important. Mr. MIYAGI mentioned that miyagi ancestor fell asleep, learned kung fu and was called karate which means china Hand but kara was changed to empty hand by the Japanese.

Tang Soo Do means the way if the china had. Master Kim has his students wear kung fu pants and kung fu shoes. When japan occupied Korea, taekkyon fighters escaped to china, learnded kung fu, came back and learned karate which led to a hybrid style.

Who knows, maybe Mr. Han is connected to a kung fu master family that taught their style to Miyagi ancestor, Master Kim and sensei Wolfs teacher. Like there was a seriously bad ass master and that sensei Serano also is connected to.

Master Kim was said to be 104 years old. Minus that from 2020 then he would be born 1916. Tang Soo Do was conceived in 1944. So master Kim would be 28 years old by 1944. I assume he would have had lots of kung fu training as well up to that point.

This is a very realistic take. I think he realized that taking someone's life was not going to lessen his own pain. That and it could have triggered some PTSD from the tournament.

But one thing is, when Daniel asked about the rules, miyagi responded with:

Don't know, never fought for points, only life.

Or something like that. Who knows there could be a story behind that match as well.

Maybe the Sekai Taikai didn't have a point system back then. They just fight until someone gives up or gets knocked out. The guy running the tournament said it was a different time back then. So clearly a more brutal era.

Pretty much nailed it. But I still think the KK universe sorely needs a Miyagi backstory movie or series. The main challenge would be casting someone who could pass for a younger Pat Morita, who was 5' 3" in KK1 without being laughably short for a protagonist. But considering 6' 2" Hugh Jackman pulled off canon 5' 3" Wolverine, I suppose they could cast some 5' 8" dude and just say that after the Sekai Taikai, Miyagi trained under Shane Carwin's coach and learned how to cut height.

I thought the dude in Daniel's dream that played a young miyagi did a pretty good job.

I mean nobody's going to look exactly like pat morita, but he was close enough.

Edit: found the actor. His name is Brian Takahashi

Leaving politics out of it, I think it would be very cool and true to KK canon if the movie referenced Karate's Chinese roots and some tie in to kung fu. Would be a bold move though, given current times and WR posters would latch on and have a field day.

This could be it, but also Miyagi and his opponent probably had some off-the-mat beef possibly connected to MIyagi's family being in the Japanese internment camp. Maybe dude had a connection to the guard who stole Miyagi's necklace (or was that dude), and he hated MIyagi for some reason and literally wanted to kill him. The set up would be like if Miyagi and Sato had fought and it was kill or be killed.

Yeah the guy he looked in the tournament was named Claramunt. So not an Asian.

Could set it up like there were 2 guards in the internment camp that were assholes, and were ultimately responsible for ignoring his wife's medical needs and causing her death. One hated miyagi because he also knew karate and had an ego, and the other didn't hate miyagi personally, but was just a scumbag who would steal people's stuff after they died.

Miyagi tracked down the thief and got his wife's necklace back, then had to enter the Sekai Taikai to have a chance at confronting the other guard.

Truth. And that was a pretty great casting for young Miyagi. You couldn't see him that well in the dream sequence, but dude DOES look like Pat Morita and is even Japanese American. And at 5' 7" close enough to Morita's height but tall enough to play a king of manlets badass like Tom Cruise has. They need to make a MIyagi movie/series with this dude ASAP.
