Television So PISSED at the Cobra Kai ending!!!!

I enjoyed the show. Reckoned its playful soul a little lost in latter seasons (not sure I really bought into the Sekai Taikai arc) but ended well in the second split of S6 here.

Zabka was a standout. The premise of the show that Daniel was all along the antagonist is such a cool perspective.

Johnny's S6 heart-to-heart with Kreese came off real AF and caught me off-guard. Top-drawer acting and clearly drawing on something inside him from his real life. Will see if I can quickly find scene and throw up below.

Yeah Villy Zabja is such an underated actor.

He really sold that scene very well.

Probably the best work both men have done in their careers. A Spin-Kick to the Feels.

Season finale was damn near perfect, IMHO. Johnny finally got the big win and made peace with his past. Danial can enjoy being a Sensei now the Karate Wars are finally over. Tory and Robby became stars and get to make a lucrative career out of karate. Hawk and Demetri go to CalTech together. Sam and Miguel go on a romantic trip to Okinawa, and while they will probably break up, remain good friends.

Kreese dies a warrior's death while redeeming himself and, in a funny way, Silver gets what he wants too: going out on his shield rather than let the illness take him.

And of course the real star of the show, my main man Stingray, gets to open his own dojo! 😁

So my wife and I binged all of season 6 over the last four days. I don’t care what anyone says, I loved it.

I thought the ending was about as perfect as I could have hoped for. I thought Miguel and Tory deserved to win the tournament, Johnny has a family, Johnny is back running Cobra Kai his way (Kreese and Silver are both gone) and he’s not stifling under Miyagi-Do.

Like I literally can’t conceive of a better way to end the show. I certainly didn’t want to see Sam win the tournament, of the kids she’s probably my least liked. I would have been OK with Robbie winning the whole thing, but at the end of the day as far as the kids are concerned Miguel was the main protagonist. I called it to my wife that Miguel would win the whole thing and she didn’t believe me because after so many years she had actually forgotten that in season 1 he’s basically the new Daniel.

Pretty much everyone had an arc and it was a happy ending. After just finishing Sopranos two weeks ago it was nice seeing some happy endings.

Cobra Kai is definitely going down as one of my all time favourite guilty pleasure shows. I just wish my homie @BisexualMMA was here to see it.

I really liked the first season then dropped it around at the second after some episodes. Like the nostalgia factor ran out and I didnt really care for the new characters to stay for the ride, but at the same time hearing they kept bringing back every guy from the movies in later seasons made me not want to watch it even more.

Still, would be deeper down the rabbit hole if they went full "kung fu is OG karate." Korea vs. Japan is something no one <60 gives a shit about anymore and is like arguing between French croissants and German apfelkuchen.

<mma4>

Lol I meant Kreese forgiving Daniel. But yeah fuck it lets go Korea vs Japan but it all downs to Kung Fu!

Yeah Stingray becoming a sensei was WTF but dude put in the time and got KTFOed into the living death for it so he kind of earned it. I guess. And it's the way of the Johnny Lawrence Cobra Kai to turn the biggest dorks into badasses.

Their ending is inevitable and shows what happens when you combine the discipline, the timing and the power of gymnastics Miyagi Do with the explosive force of karate Cobra Kai - a new all powerful martial art is born:

I wish it ended with Mike Barnes running in the second dojo. He talked about losing his power. It seems like he kind of got screwed over and felt depowered after losing to Johnny. So if he became Johnnys partner, it would fulfilled the original purpose of Mike owning cobra kai but it would be under Jonny not Terry and yet his story of being part owner of the cobra would be fulfilled!

In the context of the show I was OK with Kreese taking him out after what Silver did with sending him to prison at the end of season 4. But in the context of the entirety of the franchise (meaning movies + show) I would have preferred to see Daniel beat the fucking shit out of him again, but they already did that at the end of season 5, so it’s hard to think of what they could have done to expand upon that, because I wouldn’t have wanted to see Daniel actually kill him.
