So far, who have the better legacy between Izzy and Poatan?

I am leaning towards Perreira here.

Both very different so hard to compare. Izzy has longevity and his legacy is in one division with 5 defenses and is a two time champion, he's also got more wins than Perreira.

Perreira on the other hand is a two division champ so his legacy is among two divisions. He's got less wins than Izzy, 7 vs 13, but he's got very good quality of wins beating Strickland, Izzy, Jan, Hill and Jiri who are all former champions.

I think that beating that level of opposition and being a two division champ does it for me.
There are so few 2 weight champs it's held in such high regard in the UFC

Factor in the quality of Pereira's wins, the fact he achieved all he has in super quick time and then on top of that he did multiple things izzy failed to do e.g. going up and beating Jan, becoming 2 weight champ, KOing Strickland when izzy got dog walked by Strickland

It's very hard to make an honest and logical case for Izzy except for being biased

5 years from now
no one will talk about pereira
but people would still talk about izzy being the second best MW

people sht on izzy for losing back to back
just wait pereiras losing streak would come

you people would change your thoughts later
Of course Alex will still be remembered and talked about

Those salty tears taste good though

All 2 weight champs are remembered and talked about now

Goof

seriously does their outside world affects the way you criticize a fighter?
this is fighting

the one who has more defenses should obviously be higher than the one that has lower

you can go on social media if u love to criticize ther social life
mark munoz should be the GOAT
hes the nicest person in MMA
going by your logic
The one who has more belts should be higher
The one who achieved things the other tried and failed to do should be higher
The one who ko'd the guy who's took the others title in embarrassing fashion should be higher

Lollapalooza

If you had Izzy's career you would swap it for Alex's

If you had Alex's career, you wouldn't swap it for Izzy's

Simple

Both have done great things. But Alex's greatness outshines Izzy's

Hard to compare. If Pereira is favored it's due to the fact that he is currently in his prime while Adesanya's peak is in the past.

at this point? Alex no question

Izzy needs to move up and become LHW champ

The way Izzy was completely dominated and outclassed by Sean is a huge blur in his resume and leaves so many questions. He better take DDP head off. He loses this fight, his stock will drop waaaay hard.

Poatan achieved things Izzy couldn't and in a much shorter time frame

It's Alex.

Easy

That's your opinion. Many on sherdog value the number of defenses and time of dominance more. Personally I absolutely don't care about "greatest" talks.
If you want to think he's the greatest go ahead and do it, not here to stop you.

And because he has the more impressive accomplishments.

Given your post, you might also expect Alex to add more to his already more impressive resume than Izzy will

Who are these many.

Are you just speaking for other people.

I believe more people on Sherdog would value Alex's accomplishments more and your post is just your opinion.

pereira and its not even close

izzy is the 2nd best MW of all time.
periera is the first MW-LHW champion. is 3-1 with izzy. beat the guys izzy lost too.

izzy never won a glory title
pereira was a division glory champ.

only thing you can say about izzy is that he beat whittaker 2x and has that one win over alex. the rest of his defenses were against scrubs like cannonier, vettori, costa.

I think it's Izzy until Perreira overcomes some significant grappling challenges and we can see his success isn't just because he's been fighting strikers.

Poatan did way more in a fraction of the time. Respect to what Izzy did but Poatan is going to go down as the better fighter. What he did in glory is the icing on the cake.

Poatan did what Izzy said he was going to do: win the MW and LHW titles.
Now he's going to do something else that Izzy said he was going to do: fight Jon Jones after Jon beats Stipe (my prediction late spring/early summer next year)

Izzy is awesome but Poatan has surpassed him.

Izzy is the 2nd best MW the UFC has ever seen but he was never able to achieve two division gold.
Alex might be one of the top LHWs to ever do it in the UFC, i'd definitely put him in the top 15 ever. but he was not at MW for very long, so he doesnt really rank highly in that division if we're talking best ever.

theyre both excellent fighters with monumental accomplishments they can both be proud of. i believe both will be HOF worthy.

but personally? i think Alex is the more entertaining fighter and his career was much more interesting. Izzy has the credentials on paper but sometimes his fights were very dull.

both of these guys have opportunities to add more to their legacy in the future, but Izzy might be near the end of the road. not sure about Alex yet; gonna have to wait til his next fight to see how he looks in the cage.

No objective way to look at it.
If you value sustained success, dominance and number of ranked wins it's Adesanya.
If you value accolades, single moments and excitement, it's Pereira.
Those two things aren't remotely equivalent. One is pure athletic performance, the other is mostly marketing and convenient matchmaking. So yeah, actually, it's very easy to objectively look at it.

I hold # of title defenses higher, so I'd say Izzy for holding the MW division down so long. But it's a good comparison because Pereira becoming a double champ KOing 3 guys in defenses a weight higher is pretty crazy. I have to put Pereira on the Hendo/Rumble/BJ Penn tier especially if he has some success at HW.

I like Adesanya more, but Pereira has claimed a title in 2 divisions, and can potentially still move up to claim a 3rd…
