Skin infections from jiu jitsu

Oh dear, this is getting kind of ugly! I think both companies should send a sample of their daily wash to me....then I take that to my biologist girlfriend who works at a tissue/histology lab to put it on a slide of fungus and bacteria....then she tells me which seems to kill more crap.

And if I can't find any fungus or bacteria to give her, I'll ask a biology major at my university.

And if that doesn't work, I use them both and tell you which one smells prettier.:redface:

But in all seriousness, unless somebody is going to do a double blind trial AND publish the results of the findings, there's no point in claiming superiority. I would say the truth is they're 99% the same, and anything one brand kills, the other will kill. And anything one brand WON'T kill, nor would the other. Which renders the ultimate decision to cost per size and....smell of product. :redface:

The ingredients on that bar soap (as per the website) are,

I believe the active ingredient in Defense Soap is the Tea Tree Oil. Now the inexpensive manufacturer has it listed as 6th on the list, but what we really need to know is what content of it is. I believe Defense Soap likely uses a high concentration. (I actually know what it is because I just called, but I won't broadcast it on here as they may not too happy with me doing it, though I doubt it would violate any patents, I just prefer to play safe).

But in any case, we need the concentration of the Tea Tree Oil in that bar soap to really know if the two are highly comparable. (Also note that the concentration may not need be equal for the two products to still perform practically comparable).

I had to post my questions again. I wasn't looking for a commercial your marketing department put together. I was looking for the answers to some simple questions. It states below that you kill bad bacteria and not good bacteria......How do you know this? What proof do you have of this? Staph is a part of peoples "good bacteria" but abc doesn't kill the good bacteria so how does it kill staph or doesn't it?

1. If I were to read and believe this I would have to assume that soaps don't effect our normal skin flora at all. What are your thoughts on strong antibacterial soaps depleting the skins normal flora leaving a fighter at risk?

2. How do you know what bacteria ABC actually kills and doesn't kill? Staph is a part of many people's normal skin flora. Are you saying ABC doesn't kill Staph or does it?

I honestly cannot say the we ever had our soap tested to see if we had a group of ions that had a positive charge and were characteristically moving toward the negative electrode in electrolysis and or any negatively charged ions, as those attracted to the anode in electrolysis.

Cmon, I must say you are an educated consumer if you buy their soap because you understand what that means. Maybe then you can answer the simple questions they are avoiding like the plaque.

All I can say is that I would much rather use a soap made from natural mateirals than one containing man made chemicals. Also, let's just say that a lot of things that are FDA approved shouldn't be and a lot of them that should be, aren't.
