Skin infections from jiu jitsu

Oh dear, this is getting kind of ugly! I think both companies should send a sample of their daily wash to me....then I take that to my biologist girlfriend who works at a tissue/histology lab to put it on a slide of fungus and bacteria....then she tells me which seems to kill more crap.

And if I can't find any fungus or bacteria to give her, I'll ask a biology major at my university.

And if that doesn't work, I use them both and tell you which one smells prettier.

But in all seriousness, unless somebody is going to do a double blind trial AND publish the results of the findings, there's no point in claiming superiority. I would say the truth is they're 99% the same, and anything one brand kills, the other will kill. And anything one brand WON'T kill, nor would the other. Which renders the ultimate decision to cost per size and....smell of product.

this has the same active ingredients for 1/3 of the price Tea Tree Oil Eucalyptus Soap - 3.5 oz.

The ingredients on that bar soap (as per the website) are,

"[FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica]INGREDIENTS:Sodium Palmate, Sodium Palm Kernelate, purified water, Eucalyptus Australiana Oil, Macademia Nut Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Crushed Eucalyptus Leaves, Sodium Chloride, Tetrasodium EDTA, Tetrasodium Etidronate Recommended as a completely natural (vegetable base) all purpose face and body bar, bath bar or hand basin soap. Especially recommended for skin infections."

I believe the active ingredient in Defense Soap is the Tea Tree Oil. Now the inexpensive manufacturer has it listed as 6th on the list, but what we really need to know is what content of it is. I believe Defense Soap likely uses a high concentration. (I actually know what it is because I just called, but I won't broadcast it on here as they may not too happy with me doing it, though I doubt it would violate any patents, I just prefer to play safe).

But in any case, we need the concentration of the Tea Tree Oil in that bar soap to really know if the two are highly comparable. (Also note that the concentration may not need be equal for the two products to still perform practically comparable).

Adam,

I had to post my questions again. I wasn't looking for a commercial your marketing department put together. I was looking for the answers to some simple questions. It states below that you kill bad bacteria and not good bacteria......How do you know this? What proof do you have of this? Staph is a part of peoples "good bacteria" but abc doesn't kill the good bacteria so how does it kill staph or doesn't it?

I was reading this post....

"Bad germs or transient flora, live on the SURFACE of our skin. They are responsible for infecting us when they enter our bodies through various "portals of entry" (eyes, ears, nose, mouth, cuts, etc). AthleticBodyCare kills only the bad or transient flora, not the good or resident flora.
In fact, there is really no way to kill the good flora since even after a five minute surgical scrub by a physician, the resident flora still exists. There is no way anything alive can be sterile (absence of ALL organisms). Surgically clean is the best you can get, and that is after a five minute scrub with surgical soap and a BRUSH."

Just a couple questions for you.

1. If I were to read and believe this I would have to assume that soaps don't effect our normal skin flora at all. If this were the case then this whole over using antibacterial products movement would be a hoax. What are your thoughts on strong antibacterial soaps depleting the skins normal flora leaving a fighter at risk?

2. How do you know what bacteria ABC actually kills and doesn't kill? Staph is a part of many people's normal skin flora. Are you saying ABC doesn't kill Staph or does it?

Adam lets let the readers decide. Some members of this forum are asking for a comparision. Let us give them a shot at it.

Another huge plus to our foaming skin sanitizer is that it can be used as an anticeptic to quickly clean minor cuts and abrasions, as well as, mat burns. That is typically how staph enters the body, so look out for those and try to keep them covered until healed.

I have some questions about your skin sanitizer after you get around to answering the first batch of questions.

First thing to realize is that our products are "science based" and recognized by the FDA. DS is not and has to hide their claims behind this disclaimer:

The FDA has not evaluated this statement and Defense Soap, LLC products are not intended for prevention, treatment, cure or mitigation of any disease.

The FDA prohibits Defense Soap, LLC or any company from claiming any anti-fungal or antibacterial properties unless the products contain man-made chemicals, approved by the FDA, that have been proven to be effective viricides or fungicides. We can, however, say that Defense Soap is a natural remedy but not a cure.

AthleticBodyCare's mission is to keep athletes healthy and running at peak performance, through the use of our skincare products. We have a wide range of products that address the prevention and treatment of infection, to speeding recovery from intense workouts. Our top priority is conditioning and keeping the skin healthy!! Ask any ID doctor and they will tell you that Healthy Skin is the best prevention!

Our products are used by the top atheltes, gyms, and trainers in the country. From middle school wrestling teams, to NFL and NBA Franchises.

Now on to your questions Guy.

1. Cationic

jesus fucking christ, people at your gym train with open sores? you guys ar efucking disgusting and disrespectful.

Go see a doctor

I feel much better that I'm using ABC products! Guy- is your soap cationic or anionic?

I honestly cannot say the we ever had our soap tested to see if we had a group of ions that had a positive charge and were characteristically moving toward the negative electrode in electrolysis and or any negatively charged ions, as those attracted to the anode in electrolysis.

Cmon, I must say you are an educated consumer if you buy their soap because you understand what that means. Maybe then you can answer the simple questions they are avoiding like the plaque.

1. Does soap have an effect on our normal skin flora at all? What are your thoughts on strong antibacterial soaps depleting the skins normal flora leaving a fighter at risk?

2. How do you know what bacteria they actually kill and don't kill? Staph is a part of many people's normal skin flora. Does their soap kill Staph or does it not.

Thanks,

Guy

Athletic Body Care...

Your skin has it's own ecology. Any product that claims to kill 99.99 % of germs is doing MORE harm to your body than good.

That's because they

lol..are you not reading my posts?? I already spoke about good and bad bacteria, skin flora, etc. Please re-read.

I find it interesting that DS uses a quote from Joe Rogan on there site stating:

"That stuff is awesome. I just ordered a ton of it, and I use it every day. Its my main soap now."

Joe Rogan- Fear Factor

and on March 27th of this year he tweets @joerogandotnet: I had a staph infection I had to deal with. I tweeted it

Please, now your are just embarrassing yourself. No where in these 16 pages did you answer the specific questions I asked you. We both know why you refuse to answer them. Your charades are becoming quite tiring but once again Adam, you are my best marketing tool. Keep doing business the way you are. I love picking up your dissatisfied customers and resellers.

If you don't want to debate in an open FORUM.....buy an ad.

My challenge stands for a side by side comparison by Sherdog readers.

Oh and Joe Rogan trains. He is a combat athlete and he is our valued customer.

Let me know when you are ready to answer the questions.....I have more for you.

All I can say is that I would much rather use a soap made from natural mateirals than one containing man made chemicals. Also, let's just say that a lot of things that are FDA approved shouldn't be and a lot of them that should be, aren't.
