Skin infections from jiu jitsu

I would like to mention, also, that my sample was provided by Guy, gratis. Guy has been very helpful regarding my current condition by providing me with the samples I need to treat this freaking thing that's keeping me off the mats. As you can see, he is very generous about providing those in need with samples, and after giving me a free hard soap as well as a liquid version, he offered to send me the wipes for free. As much as I love FREE STUFF, I had to say politely decline, because after all the guy has to make a living, and has already been more than generous.

That being said, I am including pictures daily in this thread to show the progress and let people decide for themselves how well the product is working. As much as I appreciate Guy's generosity and support, I want the pictures and results to speak for themselves.

Great to see. Thanks for posting the results. Its hard for me to tell people how good Defense works without sounding like a total saleman, therefore I simply put it into their hands and let them decide.

Hopefully my experience with him/his product and company is just as good. I had impetigo once, the medication my doctor gave me for it didn't do anything really. It took me a month to get rid of it. I still have some of the scars from it.

No doubt. Once again, thanks for the samples, and so far so good! I'll post an update pic update tomorrow afternoon.

Impetigo is super super easy to get rid of. Simply go to Walgreens or CVS and grab a tube of polysphorin right next to the neosphorin. It will be gone in 2 to 3 days.

Walgreens makes a nice triple antibiotic ointment that you can toss in your bag and apply it to any cuts, scratches or mat burns you might suffer in practice. Apply after you shower. Our Defense Healing Salve is our all natural version of this.

My next order will be for the wipes, and it will definitely be worth going in with a few buddies and getting what you need to keep you safe for a good minute.

Wow, isn't that what MJ had? I hope your scars aren't too bad, but either way best of luck, and as for rw, it's working as promised thus far, so I say go for it.

My only complaint and it's not really a complaint is that I bought the travel kit with all the goodies, but the damned stuff works too well. I've never had to use the bottle of essential oils. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

my own progression,

caught staph from grappling starting "on knees only" and rubbing toes on the mat
this is about a 14 day progression. I had to get an antibiotic shot-into my but cheek and rub 2 cremes on it twice a day. The doc said it would clear up over 3 or 4 days, but it took 2 weeks

The impetigo was a few months ago, so they're fading now, so it's all good.

in my first picture you can see the skin wrinkle around the wound, its as if it was trying to heal and the skin dried out, causing wrinkles.

what i take from that is its a sign that the injury where staph resides is non flexible, it hasnt healed like the surrounding tissue. If I had to bet I think thats a good initial detection sign.

FSUfightfan06,

That is a good complaint. I'll take it. The oil is great if you know anybody who gets cold sores. Dip a q-tip in the oil and it apply it right on the blister. If you catch it soon enough the cold sore will never form.

Go to your doctor right away. They'll give you an oinment and oral anti biotic, usually fucidin 2% cream and some sort of penicillin based antibotic like Keflex and finish the ENTIRE BOTTLE. I made the mistake of not finishing my bottle once and it came back 2-3 days later and I had to miss another week of training. Make sure you take some multi vitamins while on the antibiotics. Don't leave it cause it becomes nasty when the infection spreads into the blood stream. But from the sounds of it, it's probably just impetigo.

haha, MJ had vitiligo.

I brought the questions to this page so you didn't have to search for them......

I was reading this post....

"Bad germs or transient flora, live on the SURFACE of our skin. They are responsible for infecting us when they enter our bodies through various "portals of entry" (eyes, ears, nose, mouth, cuts, etc). AthleticBodyCare kills only the bad or transient flora, not the good or resident flora.
In fact, there is really no way to kill the good flora since even after a five minute surgical scrub by a physician, the resident flora still exists. There is no way anything alive can be sterile (absence of ALL organisms). Surgically clean is the best you can get, and that is after a five minute scrub with surgical soap and a BRUSH."

Just a couple questions for you.

1. If I were to read and believe this I would have to assume that soaps don't effect our normal skin flora at all. If this were the case then this whole over using antibacterial products movement would be a hoax. What are your thoughts on strong antibacterial soaps depleting the skins normal flora leaving a fighter at risk?

2. How do you know what bacteria ABC actually kills and doesn't kill? Staph is a part of many people's normal skin flora. Are you saying ABC doesn't kill Staph or does it?

Get it checked.

Then invest in a product like DefenseSoap.

I use DefenseSoap every day and every time I train.

My gym is pretty clean. But we had a new guy come in who trains at multiple gyms. He was my principal training partner. He brought in a little outbreak of ringworm with him. Nobody who uses DefenseSoap was afflicted - not even me, and i rolled with the guy before it got discovered!

That's good enough proof for me.

They are also awesome supporters of the sport and (full disclosure) are stepping up to help sponsor a tourney I am organizing. They are giving free samples to every competitor!

this has the same active ingredients for 1/3 of the price Tea Tree Oil Eucalyptus Soap - 3.5 oz.
