Let's have Merab fight somebody new :)

Man I was really hoping Patchy kicked the door in, but dude wasn’t even competitive. Sad.

Has to be Sandy next for gremlin, although I really want to see Sandy fight Sean at some point.

Mario, as much as I don’t like him, can’t be ignored. He needs to fight one of the top guys now. If they want the best chance to derail him, it should be Umar.

I'd prefer Merab fight someone new, so Sandhagen.

Umar can fight Yan for the #1 contender to fight the Merab/Sandhagen winner. We don't need another immediate rematch for Merab.
This would have made sense but they booked Yan against a nobody instead and now Umar has nobody to fight that makes sense

umar needs 1or 2 wins before he deserves another TS. if this shit turns into another ankalaev situation where the same usual people are getting mad that he hasn't gotten another TS after 1 win, lmao...

Merab just broke him lmao, we just gonna keep feeding Umar and O’Malley to Merab on loop until one of them finally wins?

No. Give sandhagen his shot. He won't win but its something different.

Seriously, am I the only one here who doesn't think it matters anymore? Last night's Merab looked like GSP. Right around when he won the Interim title/unification matches and went on his run. I am probably in the very small minority here, but I would 100% be down with a Merab/Volk fight.

The Merab that just choked out O'Malley was markedly improved over the one who beat Umar not long ago. He just keeps getting better, and I don't get even get how there are people that don't like Merab. How can you not be happy for him? He's a throwback to an "old" UFC champ. A Zuffa-era champ.

A few more wins, and his post-fight speeches will inevitably shorten, but I doubt his thankfulness and appreciation will. That little fucker is living in his dream world right now, so he's earned a few minutes to ramble on. It was so much better than Kayla's.

I don't see a BW right now that is going to outwork or outmuscle him, his chin is solid, and his fight IQ is improving by leaps and bounds. His trips last night were on point, and his hands were quite accurate. If there's a fighter that is most likely to beat Merab, it's the striker who's going to land that left, right good night. Sean just didn't get the job done, and watching the fight, it's doubtful he ever would.

I think Sean is just better off sacrificing some of his speed for power, and move to 145lbs full-time. He's never touching gold at 135 again and there are more endearing fights there for him. What's the point of staying at 135lbs to languish as a perennial top contender? Sean has the fan-friendly style, he just needs the right dance partners and FW has a bunch of them.

Merab's looking like the 135 GOAT.

Umar has the best shot, especially if he was fighting with a broken hand last time.

But him vs Yan makes the most sense, with Merab getting a fight vs someone new.

I think he's eligible for a rematch only after getting a win, which I can see him doing just fine. For now the next title fight for Merab has to be Cory.
Cory is going to be used as a canvas mop. He is a few rungs down the ladder from Merab. It would not be a competitive fight!

Makes no sense they didn't book Umar vs Yan when both were free.
Umar had a cast for a couple months after the fight then another 4-6 weeks of rehabbing to get back to full strength and said he wasn't going to fight until it was fully healed this time, so he's probably just recently getting back to being able to train full contact and will probably be back August or September. Yan would have been the best fight, but for some reason is fighting a guy outside the top 10 like 6 weeks from now, so Umar will probably fight Yadong Song since he's the only top 5 available. Kind of rooting for Yan's fight with Marcus McGhee to fall through so they can make Umar/Yan for August/September.

I think Umar has the best chance of beating Merab but just feels like a big mistake.

I think Merab should be excited for the rematch though. It will be a tough fight but if he beats him again while Merab is still near his peak. It will be tougher for the company to make him fight his toughest challenger again when he is older and starting to decline. Eliminate him now so he can beat up guys like Sandhagen when no longer performing at 100%

Mushroom Sandhagen deserves the shot
