Patchy
This would have made sense but they booked Yan against a nobody instead and now Umar has nobody to fight that makes senseI'd prefer Merab fight someone new, so Sandhagen.
Umar can fight Yan for the #1 contender to fight the Merab/Sandhagen winner. We don't need another immediate rematch for Merab.
I think they are friends and teammates, that's not gonna happen.Sean vs Bautista make it happen. No reason to feed Sean to Umar right now man be nice.
Sandhagen is not in the same league as Merab, and does not deserve a title shot.No absolutely not. It's Cory Sandhagen's turn. Then Petr Yan's.
Cory is going to be used as a canvas mop. He is a few rungs down the ladder from Merab. It would not be a competitive fight!I think he's eligible for a rematch only after getting a win, which I can see him doing just fine. For now the next title fight for Merab has to be Cory.
Umar had a cast for a couple months after the fight then another 4-6 weeks of rehabbing to get back to full strength and said he wasn't going to fight until it was fully healed this time, so he's probably just recently getting back to being able to train full contact and will probably be back August or September. Yan would have been the best fight, but for some reason is fighting a guy outside the top 10 like 6 weeks from now, so Umar will probably fight Yadong Song since he's the only top 5 available. Kind of rooting for Yan's fight with Marcus McGhee to fall through so they can make Umar/Yan for August/September.Makes no sense they didn't book Umar vs Yan when both were free.
I think Umar has the best chance of beating Merab but just feels like a big mistake.
I think Merab should be excited for the rematch though. It will be a tough fight but if he beats him again while Merab is still near his peak. It will be tougher for the company to make him fight his toughest challenger again when he is older and starting to decline. Eliminate him now so he can beat up guys like Sandhagen when no longer performing at 100%
