I suggest looking up a YouTube video or finding a review benchmark about that heatsink.

They usually make the SSD hotter. Just leave it off unless you confirm it actually helps.

Thanks man. Found out it's not adhesive, just a pad. I'm so on edge right now.

How is this for thermal paste distribution?

@Madmick For the Thermalright PS 120SE how tight do I make this? Google says tighten it down until they bottom out, where you can't screw anymore. Do you agree? I don't want to break this

Just tighten it until secure. Don't go crazy. The insertion point is actually the SSD's connection point, not the screws to tighten it down. Those just fasten it in place.

Also, I your thermal paste looks good. Maybe a touch more, it's hard to tell.

I tightened it pretty good and gave it just a little torque at the end but I didn't make it overly tight.

Thank you for the thermal paste tip. I actually put one more dot in the center, I'm glad you ended up saying this!

Okay. Here's the Ram thing. Had to move the fan up just a little. Probably not good for it to be touching the RAM.

Oh, sorry, you switched to talk about the Thermalright cooler, sorry, I'm typing between MP lobbies right now, y'know, because I'm a gamer, but yeah, same advice either way. Just secure. Not crazy. Don't want to bend the motherboard.

Slots 2 and 4 are the primary slots by default? That's abnormal, or at least it used to be. If so, that's actually fucking tight. Smart if the industry is moving to that. Leave the first slot nearest to the CPU empty if only two sticks. Less chance of CPU Cooler interference.
 
Okay the PSU has what I believe are all the appropriate cables plugged in. Mobo was easy. The PSU forces me to use one end of the cable since it splits the 22 pin into 4 and 8 slots, and the other will go onto the board. CPU-- there were two of them. Plugs into a socket on the PSU called P8. The difference between the two cables appears to be that one end has a connected 8-Pin connector, while the other has two 4 pin connectors. I guess I should use the solid 8? At the top of the Mobo there's an 8-Pin entry point, and next to it a 4 pin. I'm assuming that's for overclocking. Should I use the other cable for that? The one that ends in two 4 pins?

There's also something called 600W going into a slot labeled PCIe 5.1. That's the GPU right?

Then I have a slot labeled "Drives" which I've hooked up to the iCUE fans. I can't think of any other PCIe devices I'm using. I think that's it.

Is that it?

I THINK I'm almost done. I just need to get those really small front panel plugs in for power switch, LED and power reset. After that I put in the GPU.

Guys what do I do if I hit the switch and nothing happens? I'm scared shitless
 
It works. IT FUCKING WORKS. I got an thing that said:

"he "fTPM NV corrupted" thing. I said yes and continued, and now Windows is installing.

One last question--- the Motherboard Cable touches the GPU on the far right side. Is this a problem? The whole thing is boxed in.

Another thing I'm wondering is how the hell I'm going to be able to bend the GPU cable such that I can get the side panel on it.

But it's WORKING.

I would try to figure out a way for the 24-pin motherboard cable to not touch the GPU.

About to hop on that after doing a little cable management. Mobo power cable is now behind the GPU, but I'm wondering if this angle is okay, and not stressing the connector or the mobo itself.

I looked at temps last night. I think the Ryzen was 30c?

This PSU cable has enough length to run through the back panel area. Just unplug the connection from the PSU(leave Mobo connection in). An feed the cable into that back panel punchout to your PSU.

30C is todays typical idle range for CPU's.
 
Reading through this thread, I wish to God I wasn't too poor to build a new PC :(

I still remember basically every second of building the computer my parents bought me as a HS graduation gift. I was the first of my friends to have both a quad-core CPU and SLI gwafix. True to form tho, I purchased the most retarded case ever, simply cuz it was on sale lol.

Oh well, back to my 2015 Acer Nitro <{1-17}>
 
I was looking at CPUId last night, tonight I downloaded HWInfo and this is what I'm seeing. Do you guys like the temps?
